5 Cowboys players who proved their worth for a roster spot after Seahawks win

After an important scrimmage practice day against the Los Angeles Rams, the Dallas Cowboys showed their dominance against the reigning NFL champions, the Seattle Seahawks.

The Cowboys beat the Seahawks 17-7, and there were five players who showed how great their abilities and skill sets are, putting them in line for a roster spot ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

These players have certainly left an impression on the team.

5. Sam Howell

Sam Howell was the first quarterback to start for the Cowboys for the first two quarters. He recorded 8-of-12 passes for 94 yards, with a 118.1 passer rating. He also had no turnovers, according to the game recap report by DallasCowboys.com.

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer earlier said that Howell “moves the offense” of the Cowboys, which was evident in the game as well.

4. Malik Davis

Malik Davis was one of the four running backs who played against the Seahawks. But he led the team by recording 39 yards on seven rush attempts.

Davis had 52 rushing attempts for 250 yards last season in the 10 games he played. Now, with this performance, he has made a strong argument for keeping him as the backup running back.

3. Joe Milton

We got to witness another fine quarterback performance from Joe Milton. The 26-year-old recorded 12-of-15 passes for 107 yards and also threw a touchdown pass, according to Randy Gurzi of the Dallas Cowboys on SI.

He has a passer rating of 118.6. Following the performances of both QBs, Schottenheimer thought that “both guys functioned outstandingly.”

Milton recorded 15-of-24 passes for 183 yards last year, including a touchdown. With Howell providing tough competition, he would need to be consistent to earn a roster spot.

2. Michael Trigg

Michael Trigg was one of the most highly anticipated rookie free agents in the league, and his performance has justified the hype. Trigg recorded a team -high four receptions for 30 yards, which also included a 10-yard reception in the third quarter.

With Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford, and Luke Schoonmaker having the top three spots on the roster, Trigg would need to keep up this form going into Week 2.

1. Camden Brown

By far, the star of the game was the undrafted rookie wide receiver, Camden Brown. Brown led the team with 62 receiving yards and also recorded three catches.

Furthermore, he recorded two incredible touchdowns, each of which was from the quarterbacks we previously talked about.

With this immaculate show, Brown has to be in the next preseason game and eventually become the backup wide receiver behind stars CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

So these are the five players, in our view, who have marked their presence and are in line for a roster spot ahead of the 2026 season.

The Cowboys will next play the Arizona Cardinals on August 22, in Week 2 of the preseason.
