The Green Bay Packers linebacker Micah Parsons is one of the highest-paid edge rushers in the league, with $48.3 million APY, per ESPN. But his social media post about wedding expenses has sparked backlash from fans.

“I haven’t even had a wedding yet, but just showing up for a wedding is expensive as h***!” Micah Parsons posted on X on June 6.

It's unclear whose wedding Parsons attended. But interestingly, the five-time Pro Bowler is currently under a four-year, $186M contract, including $136M guaranteed.

Though Parsons isn't married, he is close with his family and has three kids. He often posts pictures with his son, Malcolm, on social media, with Parsons stating his kids are his biggest motivation.

Parsons has kept his personal life under wraps, with details of his partner or the mother of his children unknown.

But he has hinted at a long-term partner in his interviews and a social media post on 2025 Mother's Day thanking the mother of his children.

As for marriage, Parsons joked about it in 2023.

"I want a ring so bad my girl can’t get one until I get one 😩😩😂😂," Parsons tweeted in 2023.

While his recent post sparked debate among fans, Parsons' health remains the bigger storyline as he continues working his way back from an ACL injury.

Parsons suffered a season-ending injury in Week 15 on December 14 in a game against the Denver Broncos.

He is expected to begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, making him sit out for the first four weeks of the 2026 season. He is expected to return for the mid-October games, according to Zach Kruse of Packers Wire.

Though Parsons' post has been an observation about the rising cost of attending weddings, the fans' reactions were divided on it.

Parsons' Comment Draws Divided Reactions

Micah Parsons ranks No. 13 in Forbes' World's Highest-Paid Athletes list (2026) and ranked at the top in Forbes' highest-paid NFL players.

One fan called him out for being stingy despite ranking in the top-paid players list.

"Micah has a 9 million dollar net worth, and he acts like he's broke," a fan wrote.

Many fans agreed that weddings are becoming an expensive scam, and even attending one is a costly affair. While other fans called him out for acting broke, given his status as the highest-paid non-QB player in the league.

"This dude is still doing the 'I don't have enough money for anything' gimmick," a fan commented.

"I love ya, but shut the h*** up. Eerdrrp loom a millionaire. And weddings are expensive," another added.

Even though fans criticized Parsons, his post was relatable enough. One fan agreed, joking that wedding expenses start with the invitation.

"Being invited to a wedding is basically receiving a beautifully designed invoice," a fan chimed in.

Another fan commented that attending weddings is more expensive than getting a house.

"Engaged couples could pay half down on a house if they just collected what 100 people spend on going to their wedding in cash," added another.

Regardless of the mixed reactions to his post, many fans are looking forward to Parsons' comeback as he continues working his way back from injury.
