The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders' Reece Weaver is known as one of the most recognizable faces from Netflix's America's Sweethearts. That journey has come to an end.
According to a report from Cleveland.com's Kaylee Remington, Weaver announced her retirement in an Instagram post from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders after three seasons with the squad on Thursday, June 18.
The decision comes after she emerged as one of the breakout stars of Netflix's hit docuseries, gaining a large following beyond the NFL fanbase.
“No matter the outcome, I felt called to chase this dream," she wrote as reported by Cleveland.com. "Even in the uncertainty, God gave me a peace that surpassed all understanding.”
Weaver opened up about the emotional nature of the decision during a recent interview with Sports Illustrated.
“I have experienced so many incredible things throughout the past three years of my time being a DCC, and I think just a lot of it came from being so full of gratitude and just so content in so many ways,” she said.
Her comment explains why the retirement was not a sudden decision. After her graduation from the University of Alabama, Weaver joined the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders in 2023.
She spent months weighing her future and ultimately felt she had accomplished everything she set out to achieve during her time with the organization.
According to her Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders bio, Weaver decided to audition for DCC because it was a "dream" of hers to "pursue a professional career in dance since I can remember."
During her final season, Weaver dealt with an ankle sprain that sidelined her for key performances, including a nationally televised Thanksgiving halftime show. However, she clarified that the injury did not lead her to retire.
While the retirement announcement surprised many fans, Weaver has already begun looking toward her next chapter.
Reece Weaver says retirement is not the end of her story
Before stepping away, Weaver spent considerable time thinking about what life after the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders would look like.
“Not saying that I'm excited to step away from pro cheer, because I love that style, but I'm really excited to step into what I have grown up doing, which is more, like jazz and tap and ballet and hip hop and musical theater," she said.
That mindset played a major role in her decision. Weaver chose to walk away while appreciating the experience that made her a fan favorite.
The statement reflects her desire to explore new opportunities. She also revealed that she and her husband have moved back to Alabama as she prepares for her next era, where she is working on a book that she is "pumped" about.
Her social media shows Weaver taking on multiple opportunities since the end of the 2025–26 season. In June 2026, she appeared as a guest announcer at Opry 100 and introduced Jordan Davis on stage. Alongside that, she has continued her “Floral Friday” posts on Instagram and TikTok.
