The most successful NFL team of this decade, the Kansas City Chiefs, will be facing the Los Angeles Rams on August 15. And head coach Andy Reid gave his take on the upcoming game.

Coach Reid spoke with the media ahead of Thursday's practice day during the Chiefs' ongoing training camp. The Chiefs' training camp runs from July 28 to August 20, and Reid is awaiting the Week 1 preseason game against the Rams to test his players, especially youngsters.

"Look forward to the challenge of playing a team actually coming up here, with the Rams," Reid said. "So being able to compete against somebody else, you know, it should be a good test for our young guys to get out there and have an opportunity to play."

Reid talked about the preseason game on August 13, according to the Kansas City Chiefs YouTube channel. Since Reid took over as coach on January 7, 2013, he has led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl wins in the 2019, 2022, and 2023 seasons.

Not only did he win back-to-back championships, but he has also led his team to the playoffs 11 times in his 13 seasons with them, missing only 2014 and last year's playoffs.

Reid has a playoff record of 28-17. He also has 307 wins as a coach, the most among active NFL coaches and the fourth-most all-time.

Reid and the Chiefs look to redeem last year's missed chance to be in the playoffs for 11 years straight, and it starts with this preseason game.

Ahead of the clash against the Rams, Reid had some updates on the lineup for the game.

While Reid was excited to see the potential of the youngsters, he also had a major update regarding the lineup. Reid said that their star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, won't play in the game; instead, other quarterbacks will be given chances.

"Pat won't start or play," Reid said in the same presser. "So it'll be Justin, and then Nussmeier and then Chris will take it from there. And we'll just see how the reps go as we work through that."

Reid pointed out that instead of Mahomes, young veteran quarterback Justin Fields will start the game, with 249th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft rookie Garrett Nussmeier getting some game time as well.

Furthermore, three-time Super Bowl champion and defensive tackle Chris Jones will probably feature in the upcoming game.

The game will take place at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday, after which the Chiefs will continue with their training camp at Missouri Western State University.
