The Dallas Cowboys' latest recruit is prepared for the 2026 season. After being traded by the Green Bay Packers, Rashan Gary comes to the Cowboys with a strong intent.

Gary spoke to ESPN via a conference call and had a powerful message for the fans and fellow rivals. He called himself one of the best in the league in "terms of the run."

“I feel like anything that I need to do in terms of setting the edge, knocking things back, trying to keep things under control, being able to two-gap-- just being able to be the anchor that I am-- that’s what I’m going to bring, just being as effective as I can be,” Gary further added.

The Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones traded for Rashan Gary by giving up a late-round 2027 draft pick to the Green Bay Packers. Gary will come in and orchestrate the Cowboys' defense in 2026, something that Dallas desperately needs.

The former Michigan Wolverine has played ‌106 games over the seven years he was with the Packers. The pass rusher has recorded 270 tackles, of which 154 were solo, and has 46.5 sacks to his name.

In the 2021 season, Gary recorded 9.5 sacks, making that a career-high for him.

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys would hope that Gary is the chess piece they have been looking for. The team has already brought in a new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker, after the team missed the playoffs last season with a  7-9-1 record.

Rashan Gary Will Reunite With Some Old Faces

Rashan Gary will enter Dallas knowing he is in some familiar company. The pass rusher will reunite with his former coach, Christian Parker, who is now the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys.

Formerly, Parker was with the Packers as a quality control coach when Gary entered the league as a rookie back in 2019.

Gary will also be reuniting with his former teammate Kenny Clark, who was part of the package that Green Bay sent over for Micah Parsons.

Gary believes the pairing of him and Kenny Clark can be “infectious” to the rest of the defense.

“KC is my dog. I’ve been in Green Bay seven years; I’ve been with KC all of them seven. He’s watched me mature as a man, as a player, and also gave me key pointers on the way up.”

Gary and Clark share a special bond, and this year's defense for the Cowboys will reveal it.

After the trade was completed, Gary called his former teammate and said, “ It’s an honor and a privilege to get to play with you.”
