The Dallas Cowboys signed Pro Bowl kicker Brandon Aubrey this offseason, making him a valuable addition to the special teams.
After earning First-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl consecutively for three seasons, Aubrey became the highest-paid kicker in NFL history, a benchmark recently matched by the Steelers’ signing Chris Boswell.
“I’m happy to have it behind me,” Aubrey said during a recent event on Friday, per X post of Jon Machota. “Happy to be able to stay here and play for a record-setting contract. It’s an awesome achievement, something that I never thought I would be able to say.”
Aubrey signed a four-year, $28M deal with the Cowboys, including $8.25M signing bonus, $20M guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $7M.
“I just wanted to have a job, and this locks me up for the foreseeable future and gives me that job that I wanted when I started this thing,” Aubrey said per X post of Jon Machota. “I’m just excited to have a job and have it right here in Dallas, where I grew up.”
Aubrey played youth soccer with Dallas Texans SC, winning five state cup titles while he was the Captain. He also played his high school and sophomore seasons at Dallas Jesuit in Dallas.
His three-year career with the Cowboys was nothing short of exceptional, highlighted by a 96.9% extra point success rate. After placing him on a $5.76M second-round tender, the Cowboys immediately secured the Pro Bowl kicker for a long-term extension.
Brandon Aubrey’s Breakout Years Earned Dallas’ Trust
Aubrey established himself as a highly reliable kicker after his rookie season in 2023 with the team, after his transition from the Birmingham Stallions to the Cowboys.
Aubrey converted 36 of his 38 field goals attempted as a rookie with the Cowboys in 2023. And he made 40 out of 47 goals attempted in 2024. He made 36 out of 42 attempts, owning a field goal percentage above 88% overall in 3 years, according to Cole Sullivan of Newsweek.
Aubrey holds the NFL record for the most field goals made from 60-plus yards in a career, with five successful kicks. His longest successful kick is a 65-yard field goal, which was the second longest in NFL history at that time, trailing behind Justin Tucker’s 66-yarder, according to Jason Owens of Yahoo Sports.
With such great performances, the Cowboys previously placed him on a second-round tender worth $5.76M, restricting his contractual rights. With no teams offering a deal in exchange for a future second-round pick, Aubrey’s stay with the Cowboys was confirmed, resulting in a historic deal.
