As the Dallas Cowboys gear up for the upcoming season, contract negotiations with kicker Brandon Aubrey are getting more attention and eyeballs from experts and fans alike.
At the core of the issue is that Aubrey is seeking $10 millon per year, which would make him one of the highest-paid kickers in the NFL. The Cowboys are reportedly offering him just under $7 million per year.
This difference in this matter has stalled the progress, with no sign of common ground being reached.
Speaking on The Dumb Zone, Aubrey cleared the air on the tense situation and how these speculations have affected his personal life with his family.
“It's been a lot of incorrect information and just people clinging to random numbers that have been thrown out. There's incomplete information dumped from probably both sides at this point.”
Aubrey revealed that he has been getting a lot of DMs on how he may be “selfish”.
“Every time we looked at our phone, there were a hundred DMs or messages saying how selfish and greedy you are.”
Aubrey joined the Cowboys in 2023 and was quick to establish himself as one of the league’s most accurate kickers. He has held the record for the most field goals made without a miss to start his career (19 of 19) and has a 88.2% field goal accuracy throughout his career with the franchise.
Despite the rumors, Aubrey remains committed and wants to stay in Dallas.
”I want to be here in Dallas, and it seems like the Cowboys want me here. So something will happen eventually, he said confidently.
The fans will be hoping that the Cowboys and Aubrey can finish the deal quickly, as Aubrey remains the centerpiece to their hopes in the upcoming season.
However, other than Aubrey, the Cowboys are in danger of losing another important player if they fail to find a solution.
Contract Details with George Pickens show no sign of progress
Having placed a franchise tag of $27.3 million on star wide receiver George Pickens, any multiyear deal negotiations have not happened yet.
The Cowboys have until July 15th to reach a deal with Pickens. If not, he will play this season for the franchise under the franchise tag.
Having joined the Cowboys in 2025, Pickens had a great season for the franchise. In the 17 games, he recorded 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Along with CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott, he remains key to the offensive line continuing where they left off last season.
Do you think the Cowboys' front office should secure the deals of Brandon Aubrey and George Pickens sooner rather than later? Let us know in the comments below.
