The head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Brian Schottenheimer, was not very pleased with his National Football League Players Association report card grade and had quite a funny take towards it.
While appearing on the 105.3 The Fan show, the head coach was asked in good humor if he had bribed any players to give him a better grade. Schottenheimer received an A minus as his NFLPA grade for the 2025 NFL season.
Schottenheimer replied, keeping up with the vibes, “We’re going to call an emergency team meeting tonight. I want to know who the hell gave me an A minus.” And he named names.
Schottenheimer also took a funny dig at his center, Brock Hoffman, “If you’re listening, man, I’m coming for you, bro. I’m coming for you, bro. Just kidding.”
The head coach was very determined to find out who gave him the minus, and reiterated that, “emergency team meeting to all you cowboy players listening to the show. About 1 pm today, there’ll be an emergency Zoom; we ain’t getting off till I figure out who gave me the minus.”
The Dallas Cowboys did have a disappointing 2025 season, going 7-9-1. The entirety is not on the head coach, but several weak spots the franchise had in its defense and personnel dynamics played a role as well.
That reflected on the grading the defensive coordinator received, which was a “C,” and the general manager received a “B.”
The head coach jokingly said, “You better hope you’re not a free agent, too.” While it was all fun and games in the interview, Schottenheimer has the draft and free agency to prepare for with general manager Jerry Jones, and the HC would hope for a higher rating in the following year's report card.
What were some of the other grades given by the players?
The players were not particularly happy with the AT&T Stadium’s field, Training staff, and team travel, with all of these parts of the franchise receiving a “C.”
The training room had the worst rating on the report card, with a “D.”
Things start to get better with the treatment of families, food/dining area, nutritionist/dietician, locker room, position coaches, special teams coordinator, general manager, and team ownership, all receiving a mix of “B and B plus.”
This is where it really gets good: the weight room, strength coaches, offensive coordinator received grades of “A and A plus.” The offensive coordinator, Klayton Adams, received the only and highest grade of “A.”
