Dallas Cowboys rookie safety Caleb Downs recently shifted from number 18 to number 13. Downs has the top-selling jersey among all the rookies.
The former Ohio State star recently appeared on a St. Brown podcast, where the host asked him about his current jersey situation in Dallas. However, Downs hinted that another change could still be on the table before the regular season begins.
When asked whether he plans to stick with No. 13, Downs admitted that his preferred choice remains the number he wore throughout college.
"I mean, I love wearing number 2, so we'll see if that happens, but yeah, right now it’s 13," Downs said.

The Cowboys made a much-needed move by drafting Downs with the 11th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The former Alabama and Ohio State standout wore No. 2 throughout his college career, but that number is currently assigned to cornerback Cobie Durant.
While Downs acknowledged that a move back to No. 2 remains an option, he is also open to other single-digit numbers if they become available.
"Yeah, for sure," Downs said when asked whether he would take another single-digit number over No. 13.
Later, the host and Downs agreed on one fact that usually number 13 is given to offensive players. For defense, it has always been single digits.
With Downs eyeing another jersey change, the conversation has now shifted toward Cowboys fans who may already be looking to purchase his No. 13 jersey.
Downs Addresses Possibility of a Future Jersey Number Change
The jersey conversation eventually turned toward Cowboys fans already looking to buy Downs merchandise.
The hosts later joked that supporters might want to be patient until his number situation becomes clear. When asked whether fans should purchase his No. 13 jersey now.
"Just hold off for now," the hosts commented.
Downs later explained why the fans should hold off from buying his jerseys now.
"If I end up wearing it and I want to switch to like two or something, I would have to buy the inventory. So I'd rather people buy it and then the inventory is less,” Downs said.
While Downs is focused on his rookie season, his jersey number remains a point of interest for fans.
