The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a 7-9-1 season that exposed plenty of holes, particularly on defense. With a new 3-4 scheme under defensive coordinator Christian Parker and a need for more depth, Dallas has spent the offseason reshaping the roster at several spots.
Most of the changes have focused on depth and competition rather than major changes to the starting lineup.
According to the Cowboys' transaction announcements, Dallas has used the offseason to add UFL standouts, developmental prospects and experienced depth while dealing with several injuries and roster changes.

August 7: Signed RB Jashaun Corbin
Dallas added running back Jashaun Corbin after he led the UFL in rushing in 2025. His arrival gives the Cowboys another experienced option in the competition behind Javonte Williams, as per an official announcement by the Cowboys on August 7.
The move also meant the team waived Dominic Richardson on August 7, who had been competing for a roster or practice-squad spot.
August 6: Added TE Zack Kuntz
Princeton Fant's knee injury created an immediate need at tight end. Dallas placed Fant on injured reserve on August 6 and claimed Zack Kuntz, giving the team another young option behind Jake Ferguson.
August 2: Added OL Sebastian Gutierrez
The Cowboys signed offensive lineman Sebastian Gutierrez for interior offensive-line depth. The move followed Matt Hennessy's season-ending neck injury, which placed him on the injured reserve list on June 18 and gave Dallas another experienced option up front.
Dallas also waived/injured linebacker Charles Snowden to create the roster spot.
June 18: Multiple roster changes
June 18 was the busiest day of the offseason for Dallas.
The Cowboys placed offensive lineman Matt Hennessy on injured reserve after he underwent neck surgery. They also signed wide receiver Denzel Mims, guard Chris Glaser, outside linebacker Charles Snowden and cornerback Ameer Speed.
At the same time, Dallas released cornerback Corey Ballentine and waived wide receiver Romello Brinson.
June 5: Signed OLB Malachi Lawrence
Dallas signed first-round pick outside linebacker Malachi Lawrence to his four-year rookie contract. The No. 23 overall selection had seven sacks and 11 tackles for loss at UCF in 2025.
June 3: Signed WR Jaden Smith
Wide receiver Jaden Smith joined the Cowboys after spending his 2025 rookie season on injured reserve with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At 6-foot-6, he gives Dallas another developmental target with plenty of size.
June 1: Signed WR Romello Brinson
Dallas brought back wide receiver Brinson after Parris Campbell's retirement. Brinson had 43 catches for 638 yards and three touchdowns at SMU in 2025.
May 26: Parris Campbell retired
Campbell was placed on the reserve/retired list after deciding to retire at age 28. He spent the 2025 season on injured reserve and the practice squad without appearing in a regular-season game for Dallas.
The moves show how aggressively Dallas has churned the bottom of its roster while training camp competitions take shape.
Cowboys remain active on the roster market
Stephen Jones, who is the Cowboys' executive, indicated the franchise is still looking at ways to improve the roster before the season begins.
“Cowboys co-owner Stephen Jones said on a team broadcast of Saturday's practice that the Cowboys not only remain interested in more additions to the roster, but they remain active, too. Jones said they've talked with other teams about potential trade options, as well as veteran free agents,” Joseph Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News reported on August 8.
Hoyt also pointed to edge rusher as a position worth watching, while noting that the Cowboys are encouraged by the progress of their defensive backs and linebackers during camp.
Dallas used both of its first-round picks on defense in the 2026 NFL Draft, including Ohio State safety Caleb Downs.
The front office could still look outside the organization for another addition if the right opportunity becomes available.
For now, the Cowboys are focused on the players already in Oxnard. Their regular-season opener is set for September 13 against the New York Giants.
