The 2026 FIFA World Cup is close to reaching its conclusion, and the home ground of the Dallas Cowboys served as the host for nine games. Yet the main man behind all this, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, was missing from the games.

His whereabouts were unknown, and thus the Associated Press reached out to the Cowboys' executive vice president Chad Estis. Estis cleared the air about why Jones was missing.

“I think first and foremost, he’s just a big event guy,” said Estis. “He loves the NFL. He loves the Dallas Cowboys. But he has a passion for events as much as anybody that I know. He very much wanted to ensure that the stadium was operating well.”

The Associated Press even hinted that Jones and his family tend to leave the country during the offseason. They spend their time on their yacht between June and late July.

Noticeably, he missed watching Lionel Messi's Argentina in action. Moreover, he missed Cristiano Ronaldo's final World Cup game against Spain as well.

Jones was enthusiastic about bringing the World Cup games to Dallas. According to Front Office Sports, Jones invited Gianni Infantino to AT&T Stadium back in 2023. Jones was also determined to host the final at Dallas Stadium.

“I think we’re trying every way in the world we can to have the final game here,” Jones told the Dallas Morning News. “We’re going to have games here, but want to try every way in the world to get it done.”

Unfortunately, that was not to be, as the final did end up going to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Still, the stadium did get to host some important games, including the upcoming semi-final game between Spain and France.

The same game that will see Jones head to the Dallas Stadium for the first time during a World Cup fixture in 2026.

Jerry Jones makes his 2026 World Cup debut in the Spain vs France clash

Jerry Jones is finally set to make his first 2026 World Cup appearance. As Kylian Mbappe's France takes on Lamine Yamal's Spain. As per the same Associated Press report, Jones will be seen spectating the game from his VIP box.

However, not from his usual luxury suite, as he had to give it away for his personal suite at the 50-yard line. FIFA felt it would be perfect to house the VIP area.

“We’re like, ‘Wait a minute. Are you serious?” Chad Estis said with a chuckle. “I mean, I understand it. That’s why Jerry’s suite is there. It’s the prime spot.”

The Dallas Stadium has seen many big games. Now it has added the FIFA World Cup games to its illustrious list.

With the Dallas head honcho Jones in attendance, along with the top FIFA execs, the Spain vs France game is bound to be a crowded affair.
