Cowboys Fans Rally Behind Bold Defensive Move After Myles Garrett Trade

As the Dallas Cowboys missed an opportunity to trade for Myles Garrett, the fans urged the team to revisit its pursuit of the Las Vegas Raiders' edge rusher Maxx Crosby ahead of the 2026 season.

With questions still surrounding the team’s pass-rush depth, adding a proven defender like Crosby could help address one of the Cowboys' biggest roster needs.

“With Myles Garrett off the market, should the Dallas Cowboys circle back on Maxx Crosby? Yes or No ”, the X post of the DLLS Cowboys post read.

The Cowboys previously made multiple attempts to acquire Crosby, presenting three separate trade packages to the Raiders in early March.

The Raiders declined the Cowboys' offer and traded with the Baltimore Ravens instead. However, the trade fell through as Crosby failed a physical, sending the veteran pass rusher back to the Raiders.

Post the Garretts' trade, the Cowboys re-emerged as a potential landing spot for Crosby if the Raiders become willing to revisit trade discussions, according to CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo.

“The general consensus is that the Raiders want compensation similar to what the Cowboys received when they traded Parsons to Green Bay. Dallas received two first-round picks in addition to Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark," DeArdo noted.

The five-time Pro Bowler has recorded 10 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 73 tackles (45 solo), and 28 tackles for loss in 2025. And based on Crosby's production, DeArdo believes that if a team wants Crosby's services, the compensatory cost would be higher.

But the bigger question is whether the Cowboys would be willing to sacrifice future draft capital to address a current roster need.

As projections continue to link the Cowboys to the veteran defensive end, fans have expressed mixed opinions on the potential move.

Fans Divided Over Potential Crosby Trade

Though the fans were excited about a potential Crosby trade, they were also divided about the cap space and the compensation the Cowboys would have to sacrifice to secure him.

One fan raised doubts about his failed physical due to a torn meniscus and the follow-up surgery in January.

"If Dr Cooper says the knee is fine, sure."

Another fan suggested signing two cost-effective players instead of spending it all on one player.

"No, you don't need him; just sign both Jadeveon Clowney and Bobby Wagner for $12M total without giving up anything."

One fan gave a mixed opinion, raising questions about Crosby's knee injury but also his possible immediate impact on the team.

"Depends if the Raiders drop the asking price. I know a healthy Crosby is a game-changer. When I saw the Cowboys play the Raiders during the 2025 season, I was amazed. I thought, do anything to get him. He has been injured, though. His injury history and salary are high."

One fan appreciated the move, as it wouldn't cost much to sign the veteran edge rusher

"Yes, and it should not cost a ton either. Maybe a 1st."

Another fan shared excitement about the possibility of the Cowboys landing a Super Bowl.

"Yes. Trade picks and win back-to-back Super Bowls. The future is now."

Though the fans' reaction was mixed, the Cowboys' parting ways with their future draft capital seems uncertain for now.
