Cowboys' $4 Million Signing Has Just the Attitude That Dallas Needs

Going into 2026, the Dallas Cowboys will look to get back into playoff football, and their latest $4million signing brings in the right mindset for the plan.
After being drafted in round four, Cobie Durant went on to play with the Los Angeles Rams as a cornerback for the next four seasons. As he is ready for life in Dallas, he already knows what the game plan will be.
"Defense wins championships, offense sells tickets," Durant said via The Athletic's Jon Machota. "Just get the ball back to Dak Prescott is my new motive. I don't have to be no superhero. Just go out there and be me. Play 11 as one."
With career-high totals in tackles (40) in the last two seasons, Durant has been showing signs of rising to the next level. It would seem that the cornerback is also very aware of how to get the job done.
“When I go out there, I don't think about it as much as just be myself, be the Landshark, and just go make plays," Durant said about his approach to the game.
With Dallas, Cobie is open to playing wherever defensive coordinator Christian Parker and the coaching staff say. In his four seasons with the Rams, he lined up both inside and outside as a Cornerback, given his speed and agility for effective plays.
His stats reflect a game-making ability that defies his average height for an NFL cornerback.
Why did the Los Angeles Rams let Cobie Durant go?
Letting Cobie Durant walk once felt like a calculated risk. But after bringing in Trent McDuffie, the Los Angeles Rams made their stance clear. With McDuffie and Emmanuel Forbes now in the room, Durant’s return no longer moves the needle.
Last season, Durant tied for the Los Angeles Rams' lead with three interceptions in the regular season. He carried that momentum into the playoffs and then some. Three more picks, most in the league, along with a playoff-best seven pass breakups, turned him into a steady contributor.
In his time in LA, Durant has played in 61 total games and posted 141 total tackles, seven interceptions, and two sacks with a touchdown score as well.
With DaRon Bland recovering from a foot surgery, and Shavon Revel still recovering from his ACL surgery, using Cobie as a boundary cornerback fills the gap of the missing piece in the Cowboys team.
