The Cowboys are raising questions with their pre-draft strategy. Despite obvious needs on a leaky defense, the team's coaching staff recently met with three offensive prospects. This focus on an already-strong unit has left many analysts puzzled.
The Cowboys reportedly met with Michael Trigg, tight end, Josh Cameron, wide receiver, and Sawyer Robertson, quarterback.
As per Nick Harris of the Star-Telegram, Lunda Wells, the tight ends coach of the Dallas Cowboys, met with these three offensive prospects at a dinner in Waco, Texas.
The Cowboys are using a strange strategy again, as they need help on defense but are meeting with offensive prospects.
Michael Trigg, the tight end, spent five years across three schools: the University of Southern California, Ole Miss, and Baylor. Throughout his college career, the Tampa native has had 108 receptions, 1,419 yards, and 14 touchdowns to his name.
Josh Cameron, wide receiver, spent four years with the Baylor Bears and had 170 receptions, 2,236 yards, and 19 touchdowns.
Quarterback Sawyer Robertson also played four seasons at Mississippi State before heading to Baylor. The QB put up impressive numbers in the 2025 season: 3,681 yards, 31 touchdowns, and a 60.3% completion percentage.
All three prospects are set to go on day three or four of the NFL Draft. But the question that remains is, do they need to add to an already stacked offense?
The Dallas Cowboys had one of the best offenses in the league in 2026 under head coach Brian Schottenheimer, despite their leaky defense.
How good was the Dallas offense in 2025?
The Cowboys ran riot when it came to their offense in 2025, led by QB Dak Prescott and all his weapons around him, which included WR George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, and running back Javonte Williams.
The Cowboys finished 2nd in total yards per game (391.9), and 2nd in passing yards (266.3 yds/game). Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, as well as Javonte Williams, will return to the offensive setup. Questions over Pickens remain as the player and franchise have not agreed on a new deal.
Prescott had 4,552 passing yards and 30 touchdowns. While both wide receivers eclipsed 1,000-plus yards.
Meanwhile, Javonte Williams had 252 carries, 1,201 yards, and 11 touchdowns.
The Cowboys' focus on offense is puzzling, especially considering their well-known defensive struggles.
