With the deadline for restricted free agents passing this Friday, no team submitted an offer sheet for the Dallas Cowboys' kicker Brandon Aubrey.
The Cowboys placed a one-year, $5.76 million second-round restricted tender on Aubrey, securing his rights for the 2026 season. Aubrey has yet to sign a long-term extension and appears to be holding out for a more lucrative contract.
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted about this on his Instagram account, with the caption stating:
“Cowboys restricted free agent kicker Brandon Aubrey has until Friday to sign an offer sheet with another team; if he doesn’t, Dallas retains his rights for the 2026 season. With time running out and no offer forthcoming, Aubrey now looks destined to remain with Dallas in 2026.”
Aubrey's most recent campaign in 2025 made him stand out as one of the top kickers in the NFL. He made 36 goals out of 42 field attempts at an 85.7 percent clip, his best field goal percentage across three seasons, with a long of 64 yards.
The Cowboys kicker made 47 points out of 48 points attempted at 97.9 percent. He handled 101 kickoffs, averaging 59.9 yards with 17 touchbacks, and scored 155 points- finishing as one of the Cowboys' most dependable contributors in a season where the defense around him struggled historically.
Despite his elite production, the second-round tender has limited Brandon Aubrey’s market, with no teams stepping forward with an offer.
Second-Round Tender: Why Brandon Aubrey Drew No Offers
The Dallas Cowboys have offered Aubrey a contract that is worth nearly $7 million per year, which will make him the most expensive kicker in NFL history. This figure is well above the current market for placekickers, set by Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs at $6.4M annually.
But his agent rejected the deal, trying to elevate his value to nearly $10M.
As those negotiations fell through, the Dallas Cowboys placed Aubrey under a second-round restricted free agency tender, worth $5.76M for the 2026 season. This tender allows other teams to submit an offer sheet, but if the Cowboys do not match it, they would receive a second-round draft pick as compensation.
Across three NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Brandon Aubrey has appeared in 51 games and established himself as one of the most accurate and productive kickers in the league. He scored 462 career points across his three seasons, a remarkable output for a kicker who only entered the NFL in 2023.
Despite being regarded as one of the league’s top kickers, Aubrey drew no outside bids. This most likely settles his immediate future with the Cowboys.
