Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin had built his post-NFL retirement life around football, making appearances in podcasts and breaking down the league’s biggest storylines. But his latest venture will take him into a completely different sports world, expanding his media relationship with Netflix.

During his recent interview with On3, Irvin revealed that he will be on-site for the MLB Home Run Derby coverage for Netflix in Philadelphia on July 13.

“I’m so looking forward to going out and being around and showcasing the Home Run Derby for Netflix and interviewing guys to bring them on my White House show and everything,” Irvin said, per Brian Jones of On3 on July 4. "I know it’s in Philadelphia, so I got to walk amongst them, but I’m willing. I’m willing. Let them know, I come in peace.”

Irvin hinted at “peace” as the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are NFC East division rivals, making the collaboration and the place of the event more interesting.

“I know the season is right around the corner. I’ve always had an interesting relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles, with the fans in Philadelphia,” Michael Irvin said, per Brian Jones of On3. “I’ve always had fun with them, so I’m looking forward to having fun with them in this situation.”

He added that he will be filming content for The White House podcast, which premiered in January in a partnership with Netflix, along with co-host Brandon Marshall.

The White House podcast is set to release two episodes per week, with rotational co-hosts, and will cover current news, game analysis, and candid commentary.

The 2026 season marks Netflix's first season of live MLB coverage as part of a new three-year National Media Rights contract with Major League Baseball.

Meanwhile, it's not the first time that Irvin has paired with Netflix.

Irvin's growing role at Netflix extends beyond Football

Irvin's latest assignment builds on an already growing relationship with Netflix. He previously served as an analyst during the NFL Christmas Gameday 2025 in December.

“It really has been a beautiful union,” Irvin said in the same interview, per Brian Jones of On3. “It’s amazing because Netflix has such a great relationship with the Dallas Cowboys. It really works out.”

Irvin previously appeared in the Netflix docuseries America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys, which streamed on Netflix from August 19, 2025.

The eight-episodic series covered the franchise leadership under owner Jerry Jones and the 1990s dynasty of the Cowboys, where the team landed three Super Bowl titles(1992, 1993, and 1995)

The MLB Home Run Derby is an annual event that features some of baseball's best sluggers competing to hit the most home runs.

The MLB's official X account announced on July 7 that New York Yankees slugger Ben Rice will compete in the Home Run Derby on July 13. The event will air live on Netflix at 8 p.m. ET, with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
