Cowboys Legend Ripped Jamie Foxx For Insulting Him at Shaq's Roast

Grammy Award winner Jamie Foxx sure knows how to ruffle some feathers.

In 2003, Foxx hosted Shaq’s All-Star Comedy Roast of Emmitt Smith Show. At the event, the Sinners actor took a shot that didn’t sit well. Backstage, a Cowboys legend confronted him and made his stance clear.

In a recent interaction with The Art Of Dialogue,  actor and comedian Joe Torry revealed how Jamie Foxx’s first hosting of the sports event led to a tense backstage confrontation.

While taking a dig at former Dallas Cowboys legend Daryl “Moose” Johnson,  it turned into a heated confrontation when Moose took offense at the jokes.

"How dare you?" Moose Johnson, with his wife, confronted Jamie Foxx.

Joe Torry recalls that Jamie Foxx stepped in as a last-minute host and approached the roast with his usual freestyle style, taking shots at multiple personalities on stage.

According to him, Foxx had gone too far while trying to recover the energy of the room.

“Jamie just went in on him,” Torry said, explaining how the jokes shifted from playful to personal.

That is when Moose, still in his tuxedo, confronted him directly, with his wife stepping in as well.

“They were backstage about to whoop his a**… ‘How dare you?’” Torry recalled, describing the intensity of the moment.

Joe further describes how Foxx handled the moment with much restraint. What was meant to be light-hearted quickly shifted when a joke aimed at Daryl “Moose” Johnson did not land well.

Torry noted that the tone of the roast changed because the focus was originally meant to celebrate Emmitt Smith, who, as he put it, “got like a clean record, you can’t really say nothing bad about Emmitt Smith.”

The mismatch between the event’s intent and Foxx’s approach is what ultimately led to the heated exchange.

Why Daryl Moose Johnson Took Offense to Jamie Foxx's Comments at the Roast

As recalled by Joe, Foxx said inappropriate things about Moose Johnson. Moose Johnson, who was recently auditioning to get into the broadcasting roles post his retirement.

“...but it was really c****, like what the h***, and he was the first person up, so Jamie sacrificed him like talked about him bad…,” said Joe Torry.

Daryl didn't want this to get aired as it would harm his image over the community and would make it difficult for him to get into the business of broadcasting. “You bet that not be aired, and I don't think they aired it either.”
