Cowboys linked to 10X Pro Bowler as training camp approaches

As training camp draws closer, Bobby Wagner has once again emerged as a name to watch for the Dallas Cowboys as they look for help at linebacker.

Lee Vowell believes Bobby Wagner, a 10x Pro Bowler, could end up with the Cowboys if the veteran decides to play another season, as he sees Dallas as a team that could benefit from adding an experienced linebacker before training camp.

“But if he wants to keep going, he would obviously have to find a team that needs an inside linebacker but is likely unwilling to pay top dollar to sign one,” Vowell wrote. “Unfortunately for Seahawks fans, this could mean that Wagner ends up with the Dallas Cowboys.”

According to Vowell of 12th Man Rising, Wagner could be a strong fit for Dallas because the Cowboys are looking for help at inside linebacker before training camp.

At 36 years old, Wagner enters the offseason after another productive year, recording 162 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions at inside linebacker in 2025.

The Cowboys are entering Brian Schottenheimer's first season as head coach with Christian Parker leading the defense, but questions remain at inside linebacker despite their offseason changes.

Wagner also shares a connection with Brian Schottenheimer from their time in Seattle. The two worked together from 2018 to 2020, when Schottenheimer was the Seahawks' offensive coordinator, which could help Dallas if they make a move for the linebacker.

Wagner's projected market value is around a one-year, $8 million deal, which keeps his potential contract within reach for Dallas.

For now, Wagner is still available, and Dallas remains one of the teams to watch as training camp approaches.

Wagner's NFL Top 100 ranking also shows the respect he has earned around the league.

Bobby Wagner's NFL top 100 ranking helps Cowboys

According to Bobby Kownack of NFL.com, Wagner remains one of the top free agents available after earning a spot on the NFL Top 100 players list, and his ranking shows why Dallas could consider adding him before training camp.

“The timeless linebacker continues to rack up standout seasons at the tail end of his Hall of Fame career,” Kownack wrote. “Wagner has never fallen short of triple-digit tackles in a season through 14 years in the league ...with 2,000, per Pro Football Reference.”

Wagner's consistency was also recognized by his peers, as he was ranked No. 81 in the NFL Top 100 players list.

With the Cowboys still needing help at inside linebacker, Wagner's experience and consistency could make him a strong option before the 2026 season.
