Cowboys Make 9 Pre-draft Moves & Host Former Coach's QB Son

The Cowboys are making noise ahead of the NFL Draft. They've hosted a slate of top prospects, but the most intriguing name is the son of a former coach.

A fan-compiled tracker on X shows the Cowboys hosted several top-rated prospects for pre-draft visits.

Headlining the list is Arvell Reese from the Ohio State Buckeyes, the No. 2 prospect in the draft, as reported by Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Also drawing attention was Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey, ranked No. 3 overall, whose visit was reported by NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

According to the NFL Insider visit tracker, the Cowboys brought in TCU linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr, as reported by Aaron Wilson, alongside Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green, a projected fifth-round pick whose visit was reported by Bo Marchionte.

Northwestern quarterback Preston Stone and TCU edge rusher Devean Deal, both also made the trip to Dallas, with Aaron Wilson reporting Stone's visit and NF_Recruits covering Deal's.

UT Permian Basin wide receiver Ben Patterson was reported by Nick Harris, and Kansas defensive tackle Tommy Dunn Jr. by NFL Recruits. The lot of which the Cowboys are quietly keeping an eye on as they build depth ahead of the April'26 draft.

As a potential first-round pick, Arvell Reese caught everyone's attention by running the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds at the NFL combine. While NFL Analysts project him to be a Micah Parsons replacement, not everyone is sold on Reese.

“To me, you don’t have any brains in the National Football League if you don’t take (Texas Tech edge rusher) David Bailey ahead of Arvell Reese if you want a pass rusher,” noted Cowboys fan and former Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless in a video clip posted on his account, on March 30.

Another potential first-round pick, David Bailey, has played 44 games, recording 149 tackles, 38.5 tackles for loss, and 27 sacks. His final season at Texas Tech saw career highs of 16 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks, placing him among the top three edge rushers in this year’s draft class.

Also on the Cowboys’ radar is a former player’s son, demonstrating quarterback skills and standing out as a potential backup pick as QB2.

Former Player’s Son Showcases QB Potential

With Dak Prescott, the franchise quarterback now 32, the franchise may want to start planning for the future.

Garrett Nussmeier, son of Saints offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, is a projected third-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

In his 2024 season, the LSU Tigers quarterback looked like a first-round prospect considering his production, where he played for 13 games. He completed 337 of 525 passes for 4,043 yards and 29 touchdowns.

But after a lackluster performance last year, which saw him fail to even reach the 2,000-yard mark, his best, he may not be among the best quarterbacks in the 2025 draft class.

He was unable to replicate his standout 2024 performance during the 2025 season with the LSU Tigers, as an abdominal injury limited his production and overall impact on the field.

Still, with the Dallas Cowboys evaluating new draft picks, there remains room for optimism for this prospect.
