Cowboys’ Pass-Rush Search Could Lead to a $6M NFL Veteran After Missing Maxx Crosby

After the Dallas Cowboys’ GM Jerry Jones missed out on acquiring Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders, he traded Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers, but the search for a pass-rusher is still on.

Randy Gurzi of Sports Illustrated believes the team's search could end with the signing of Veteran edge rusher Von Miller in free agency.

“Miller isn't the player he once was at 36 years old, but he's still a productive pass rusher in a rotational role. He's stated that he wants to continue playing, and the Cowboys could definitely use his experience as they rebuild their defense.” Gurzi stated.

Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller was released by the Buffalo Bills in 2025. He then signed a one-year $6.1M deal with the Washington Commanders.

Last year, Miller played all 17 games for the team, recording 9 sacks and 16 solo tackles.

With 164 starts, 607 tackles, and 138.5 sacks, Von Miller brings elite experience. His addition could ease pressure on DC Christian Parker and Rashan Gary.

With roughly $14M in cap space, signing Miller to an affordable contract is a realistic option for Dallas.

The only hiccup at the age of 36 would be Von Miller's retirement plans.

What Are Von Miller’s Retirement Plans This Season?

Recently, on the Rich Eisen Show, Von Miller was asked about his retirement plans.

“They're [Players] still falling for the same tricks I've been doing my whole career. I'm going to keep rolling the dice until they figure it out," the veteran said. “I fell in love with my teammates there (Washington). I love the way they run the organization. (General manager) Adam Peters is great. Coach (Dan) Quinn is great. I would love to be a Washington Commander.”

He also stated that if not the Commanders, he’d love to go back to the Denver Broncos. He could get the closure he always wanted, with the team and his fans. But if both teams don’t sign him, he might just be in.

“There's a team out there that's gonna pick me up that would love to have my tricks on their roster,” the veteran added.

It would most definitely be interesting to see whether the future Hall of Famer gets to the Dallas Cowboys and helps Jerry Jones' defense out next season.
