The Dallas Cowboys, along with franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, may be embracing the "Super Bowl or bust" mentality heading into the 2026 season, but one Cowboys podcast host believes the team's recent history tells a different story.
During an episode of the 105.3 The Fan podcast, one of the hosts, Shan Shariff, went off on Prescott’s “Super Bowl or Bust” claims, saying that the Cowboys fans are not expecting anything this season, considering their disappointment for the past 30 years without a Super Bowl title.
"Dak, it's because of you, your teammates, and the organization, going back to the past 30 years... that has made 'Super Bowl or bust' not a thing around here..." Shan Shariff said, per X post of 105.3 The Fan.

According to the 105.3 The Fan X’s post, Shariff said that no Cowboys fans would think that everything is over because of one unsuccessful season.
He expressed disappointment about the multiple seasons where the Cowboys had a fairly good run, but ended up without postseason contention.
The Cowboys have an all-time playoff record of 36-31, holding a 5-3 Super Bowl appearance record. Their most recent playoff appearance was in the 2023 NFC Wild Card playoff loss against the Green Bay Packers (48-32)
“Because you guys have done very little,” Shariff said during the same podcast. “You've had nice seasons, you've had some seasons have a little bit of playoff success, but there's nothing that you've done throughout your runs, and I'm talking all the Cowboys over decades to make that the standard around here for Cowboys fans and followers.”
Shariff further argued that Cowboys fans have long been accustomed to such disappointment after two consecutive seasons without playoffs and not reaching an NFC championship game since the 1995 season.
Though the Cowboys have made the playoffs 18 times after the 1995 season, they never advanced past the divisional round, according to Fox Sports.
Shariff concluded by stating that the standard for the fans comes only after consistently competing for championships, which the Cowboys have failed to do for nearly three decades.
Despite the disappointment, Prescott has set the bar high for himself and his team.
Dak Prescott says anything less than a Super Bowl isn't enough in Dallas
Prescott claimed that his ultimate goal heading into the 2026 season would be to hoist the Lombardi trophy on February 14, 2027.
"That's the one thing I love about the Cowboys nation and being a player of the Cowboys is, it's Super Bowl or bust," Prescott said while speaking to fans during a virtual meet and greet alongside Caleb Downs, per Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com. "And truthfully, that's the only reason you play this game. And so if that's not your mindset, if that's not your mindset as a fan, then to me, you don't have the right passion."
Prescott believes that championship expectations should drive every decision the Cowboys make. His recent offensive unit retreat in Utah reflected that mindset as he brought teammates together to build an off-field bond ahead of the 2026 season.
