Cowboys Predicted To Boost Dak Prescott's Weaponry With NFL Combine Standout

The Dallas Cowboys have a receiving problem they haven't fully solved yet. An Oregon tight end who just broke a nearly 20-year NFL Combine record might be exactly the answer.

Nobody outside of Idaho had heard much about Kenyon Sadiq a few years ago, until the time he signed up with the Oregon Ducks. Now, he might be one of the most sought-after players in the entire 2026 NFL Draft.

"Should the Cowboys explore the idea of adding another offensive weapon, there is one that sticks out as a potentially elite fit," wrote NFL writer Evan Massey. "That player is none other than Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq."

Sadiq had a breakout season for the Oregon Ducks in 2025, leading all college tight ends with eight touchdown catches and 560 yards.

When he showed up to the NFL Scouting Combine, Kenyon Sadiq ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds, breaking the previous record of 4.40 seconds, making his record the fastest time ever recorded by a tight end in Combine history.

ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks him the No. 1 tight end in this class and a top-10 overall prospect. NFL.com has compared him to Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride, one of the better players at that position in the league right now.

While the Cowboys' offense did produce impressive yards in their receivers (both crossed 1,000 yards), George Pickens has yet to announce a long-term deal. This makes Sadiq an interesting prospect to have.

Dallas's Offensive Department Lacks Depth

The Dallas Cowboys' situation currently with the offensive line is less settled than it looks, and this is where a tight end like Sadiq fits in.

CeeDee Lamb is their star receiver and is going nowhere. But George Pickens, who joined the team last season and quickly became their star in the passing game, is currently on a franchise tag.

There is no guarantee Pickens stays beyond this season, as there has not been any public announcement in this regard. The Dallas Cowboys might have a huge gap to fill in case of Pickens leaving the team.

With Pickens' future uncertain and tight end Jake Ferguson producing only 600 yards in 2025, Dallas needs more offensive options beyond CeeDee Lamb.

Dallas holds picks No. 12 and No. 20 in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Whether they use one on Sadiq depends partly on whether he is even available - the Chiefs and Rams are also linked to him in several projections.
