The Dallas Cowboys haven't reached a Super Bowl in more than three decades. They also missed the playoffs for two consecutive seasons, ending 2025 with a disappointing 7-5-1 record. However, one analyst gave a bold prediction for the Cowboys this season.
Jarrett Bailey of SB Nation projected the Cowboys to eliminate the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round, holding the defending NFC East champions to just nine points in a 20-9 victory.
“The Rams earn the No. 1 seed, while Dallas is No. 2 in the conference,” Jarrett Bailey of SB Nation wrote. “The Cowboys get to the Conference Championship Game by defeating a pair of division opponents. They defeat Washington 31-23 in the Wild Card round before Christian Parker puts the Eagles offense in hell for 60 minutes en route to a 20-9 win in the divisional round.”

In his July 22 SB Nation article, Bailey wrote that the Cowboys could open their playoff run with a 31-23 Wild Card victory over the Washington Commanders, before they matchup in a divisional showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys are head-to-head with the Eagles in the regular season with a 5-5 record over the last five years and an all-time playoff record of 3-1 since 1981.
The Cowboys enter the 2026 season after the departure of A.J. Brown and a new scheme under offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. Bailey believes the team's revamped defense could overpower the Eagles' offense.
He also believes the Cowboys' new defensive unit under defensive coordinator Christian Parker would power a 20-9 playoff victory, with the Eagles managing only nine points.
Bailey's projections also suggest that the Cowboys could enter the Super Bowl conversation by winning the NFC East title and advancing to face the No. 1-seeded Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game.
Cowboys predicted to end 30-year drought with dramatic Rams victory
Jarrett Bailey of SB Nation projected the Cowboys to enter the NFC Championship for the first time since the 1995 season, in a matchup against the Rams.
“The Rams enjoy a first-round bye before defeating the Packers 34-27,” Jarrett Bailey of SB Nation wrote in the same article. “The two teams exchange offensive blows, but a Caleb Downs interception with less than two minutes to play seals the 34-30 win for the Cowboys to send them to their first Super Bowl in over 30 years.”
He projected the game to be a high-scoring contest between two powerful offensive units that ranked No. 1 (Rams) and No. 2 (Cowboys) in the total offense in the league last year.
The SB Nation NFL writer predicted rookie Caleb Downs to play a key role in the fourth quarter in making a decisive play as he would intercept a pass in the final two minutes, leading the Cowboys to a 34-30 victory over the Rams.
Bailey believes the victory would send the Cowboys to their first Super Bowl appearance in 30 years, marking the franchise's deepest postseason run since 1995.
