The Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is entering his 11th NFL season, and the team is facing increased scrutiny regarding its roster-building approach. Analysts believe that such an approach could limit Prescott’s remaining Super Bowl opportunities.
On a recent episode of the K&C Masterpiece show on 105.3 The Fan, hosts Kevin and Cory, along with producer Alec, discussed Prescott being in the veteran stages of his career, urging the Cowboys to take a different approach to build around the franchise QB.
“I do think it [to have Les Snead as general manager] would be nice, like Cory said, to capitalize on the fact that you do have the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL,” Alec said. “You made that decision. You need to put those pieces around the team to give him the best chance to succeed before that time runs out.

The hosts expressed disappointment with the Cowboys' cautious approach, arguing that the team missed opportunities to secure a veteran pass rusher. They were talking about the most recent seismic trade of Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns to the Los Angeles Rams.
Prescott recorded 4,552 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions over 17 games, achieving a 67.3% completion rate and a 99.5 passer rating in 2025, with the last several seasons representing his athletic prime.
"Then the clock restarts, and you have to go back into evaluating the position all over again, and really, your playoff window is completely sealed until you make the right decision once again going forward. So the semantics of it all—I would rather have a GM that does make those moves," Alec said.
Alec argued that Prescott’s stage of career calls for a more aggressive roster-building strategy, leading them to compare the Cowboys' approach with Snead’s strategy with the Rams.
Rams general manager Les Snead prioritized improving the roster immediately, showing a willingness to sacrifice future flexibility to strengthen the defense.
The Cowboys are expected to adopt such an approach with a sense of urgency and consider a more aggressive move to widen their Super Bowl window with Prescott at the center.
Cowboys Ranked Among NFL's Most Scrutinized Teams
The hosts, Kevin and Cory, in the same show, also identified the league's most scrutinized franchises.
The Cowboys are ranked at No. 4 among the teams that will be scrutinized and evaluated on every decision made.
"I think most of the top of the list is pretty spot-on with one glaring omission for me," Kevin said. "It goes Bills one, Rams two - just in terms of teams most under the microscope - Chiefs three, Cowboys four, Ravens five, Eagles six, Bengals seven, Giants eight, and Patriots nine."
The Cowboys are under intense pressure to have a successful 2026 season after missing the playoffs for two straight seasons.
With a strong offensive unit and a renewed defensive unit, the expectations are high, as the Cowboys will be one of the league's closely watched teams throughout the 2026 campaign.
