After getting overlooked in the 2026 NFL draft, Dallas Cowboys (undrafted free agent) rookie Michael Trigg spoke to NFL analyst Tommy Yarrish candidly about his feelings.
"It’s motivating. It puts a chip on my shoulder, honestly. I belong. I’m trying to stick in the league for as long as possible, ” said Trigg, who is not in grief but more motivated than ever to make a lasting impact.
That faith and belief have now paid off as the Cowboys signed him up shortly after the seventh round of the draft, believing in his potential. The Cowboys started the free agency period aggressively, looking to solidify the defensive department under Christian Parker, but now they have an offensive player in the bag as well.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound athlete comes with a staggering statistic of over 100 receptions, 1700+ yards, and 21 TD's to boot. But he also faces some serious competition with Brevyn Spann-Ford for the backup role. Though Trigg has the edge when it comes to latching onto passes.
And even the B/R Scouting Department's Daniel Harms believes in his abilities.
B/R's Daniel Harns Calls Trigg "Matchup Problem" For Defense
Trigg might have been ignored by the NFL teams, but his talent on the pitch is unmatched, and Daniel Harns sees that.
"Trigg is a matchup problem for defenses. The hybrid target already displays the nuance and route detail to immediately contribute in an NFL offense," Harns states clearly.
In his final year at Baylor, Trigg produced a career-high of 50 catches for 694 yards and six touchdowns. He will now look to improve on those numbers with the Cowboys.
The job won't be easy, no doubt, but Trigg is genetically gifted as well, with his 34 1/4 inch arm length, 10 1/2 hand span; he has all the physical tools that one needs to find success in this game.
Moreover, this Dallas squad also has players like CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens on the outside, and that would only improve Trigg's skills even further.
Then there's also Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker, and Princeton Fant, so there is no shortage of athletic specimens that Trigg will be able to go shoulder-to-shoulder with. Thus, the Cowboys look solid with their roster ahead of the NFL.
