The Dallas Cowboys are finally getting a full offseason look at cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. After overcoming a major obstacle early in his football journey, Revel is entering the 2026 season in a healthy and confident state, fitting in the revamped defense unit.

Despite being drafted while still on rehab from a torn ACL during college, Revel appeared in the last seven games as a rookie in 2025.

"It's very beneficial [to be healthy]," Revel said, per Tommy Yarrish of Dallas Cowboys.com. "Just because I can clean up a lot of things, a lot of errors I didn't see last year, or I did see last year, that I could clean up this year. My knee is 100%, so now it's time to focus on situational ball and I've got to see what I need to fix or get better at."

Revel was selected in the third round (No. 76) of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Cowboys. He had previously suffered a torn ACL when he played for the East Carolina Pirates in college, and sat out for the first 10 weeks in the 2025 NFL season.

In his seven games, the cornerback posted 35 tackles (23 solo), one tackle for loss, and three passes defended after being activated from Week 11 for the matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

"We've got a new coaching staff; they're very detailed and very technical," Revel said. "You're going to have times when you feel like you didn't do right, but play fast. Play 110%. The biggest thing he [Parker] focuses on is the intent."

Under Parker, Revel could develop as a primary cornerback, as Parker has developed CBs like Patrick Surtain, Cooper DeJean, and Quinyon Mitchell.

Parker had also praised Revel's 'traits, height, power, and speed' and discussed 'working on his form from the neck up in terms of the position he plays,' per Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com.

With a winning mindset and a coaching staff 'hungry' to land the Lombardi Trophy, Revel enters the 2026 season motivated to compete and earn a role in the crowded CB room.

Revel Ready to Compete for Role in Cowboys Secondary

Revel is expected to compete for one of the two outside cornerbacks spots with DaRon Bland, rookie Devin Moore, and veteran additions Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick.

"I'm very confident in myself," Revel said. "I feel like it's a battle right now. We've got some great dudes that're battling right now, and that's pushing me to the edge."

With Bland projected as the outside cornerback, as long as he stays healthy, Revel is expected to compete with Caelen Carson and Trikweze Bridges as well to secure a spot on the roster.

With a 'competition-first' mindset, Revel heads into the 2026 season determined to fight for every opportunity and carve out a larger role in the Cowboys' secondary.
