Star wide receiver of the Dallas Cowboys, CeeDee Lamb, has nothing but praise for head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
CeeDee Lamb appeared on The Ross Tucker Podcast last week and said, “I love Schotty, he’s a team player, he’s a coach’s player, and obviously, he’s receiver-friendly.”
While everything is being made about the Cowboys' defense this offseason, one should not forget they were good offensively. The Cowboys promoted Schottenheimer to head coach following his tenure as offensive coordinator from 2023 to 2024.
Lamb further added, “So, like, the offense is everything that a receiver wants. Obviously, if you see what Dak (Prescott), GP (George Pickens), and I did this year, we had a great year... It felt so real, you know? Overall, as an offense, we had the togetherness. Mind you, our offensive line is extremely young.”
The numbers back that claim. The Cowboys finished second in total yards (6,663) as well as passing yards (4,527). They also finished inside the top ten in rushing yards (2,136) and points scored (471).
These numbers alone are elite and should get you into the playoffs, but Matt Eberflus and the defense are the ones to blame for that blunder. The Cowboys allowed 511 points last season (30th in the league).
The star wide receiver further added, “Our offensive core, I feel, is extremely young. I think Dak is the oldest on the offense now. So, for him to get everybody on board and understand what he’s trying to do here and us to execute in Year 1, I feel I can’t even put it into words. You just look at the numbers.”
Lamb sure is fired up to work under Schottenheimer in the upcoming season. This raises expectations for the Cowboys.
What Are the Expectations Like Heading Into Year Two With Brian Shottenheimer?
CeeDee Lamb and Brian Schottenheimer have spent four seasons together, during which Schottenheimer served in various roles, including coaching analyst, offensive coordinator, and eventually head coach.
Lamb said, “It didn’t matter what we were going through, it didn’t matter the week we had before, it didn’t matter if it was a short week - Schotty is always gonna bring that every day, he is gonna instill that energy within you.”
There is optimism for the upcoming season, given that Jones and co. have committed to fixing the defense, and with two first-round draft picks waiting in the background.
Lamb further added, “You’re gonna have that belief. And as long as you trust his process and his regimen, I guarantee you’re gonna do what you gotta do. Just make sure we do it consistently, and do it often.”
There will be high expectations for year two, especially when you are the head coach of America’s Team.
