The Dallas Cowboys have a major problem they can no longer ignore as the 2026 season approaches. A key position on their offensive line continues to raise questions, and now all eyes are on whether a $101M star could be the answer to fix it.

One name coming up as a possible option is veteran left tackle Taylor Decker. The Cowboys could sign him in free agency to improve the left side of their offensive line.

“Adding someone like Decker would add some security to their left tackle situation,” the report notes.

According to the Dallas News, the Cowboys’ biggest offensive problem is the left tackle position. Former first-round pick Tyler Guyton will likely get the first chance to play there, but injuries and uneven performances have made his spot uncertain.

The team also has other options, like moving Pro Bowl left guard Tyler Smith to tackle if needed.

Decker has good experience and has been playing in the NFL for around 10 years. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2024 with the Detroit Lions.

He is seen as a player with around $101 million in career earnings so far, showing his long-time value in the league. Last season, he allowed only 2 sacks over 894 snaps, showing he is still solid in pass protection.

The Cowboys now have an important decision at left tackle for the 2026 offseason. They can either trust their current players or sign a proven veteran like Decker for more stability.

With the Cowboys still trying to fix their tackle problems, it makes sense to look at how Decker could fit into their offensive line.

Why Decker Fits the Cowboys' Offensive Line?

The Cowboys may not be done exploring offensive line help just yet. In a recent piece, Joseph Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News floated an intriguing solution that coincidentally aligned with the Dallas News report.

Taylor Decker had a mixed season in 2025, but his numbers were still solid. He gave up only 2 sacks.

"Adding someone like Decker would add some security to their left tackle situation," Hoyt explained. "Decker is heading into his 11th season. He was a Pro Bowl player in 2024 for the Detroit Lions. He'll be 33 in August."

Because of this, Decker looks like a reliable veteran option who could improve the unit and bring competition at both tackle spots.
