Following two straight playoff misses, Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott is no longer the biggest question surrounding the team. Instead, analysts are wondering if a revamped roster can propel him right back into the MVP conversation.
During an episode of Good Morning Football on the NFL Network, host Jamie Erdahl, along with NFL analysts on the panel, discussed the most intriguing NFC East QB, where Prescott was picked last out of four divisional teams.
"Is he going to have an MVP season? That's the question," WWE star and guest host of Good Morning Football, Seth Rollins, said. "The reason I kind of put him off to the side was because I know how great he is. I don't have questions about Dak Prescott. It's the defense, it's the new additions, are they going to be as a team finally get to the next level?"

Seth Rollins said in the same Good Morning Football episode that Prescott has the necessary tools to re-enter the MVP conversation with his elite pocket management and clutch execution, after finishing behind the Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson in the 2023 MVP race.
While the Cowboys' offense appears to be one of the league's strengths, major concerns remain on the defensive side of the ball. The Cowboys allowed 511 points (30.1 points per game) in 2025, finishing at the bottom of the league in that category.
The Cowboys focused on revamping their defense during the offseason, with significant additions made to key positions aligning with new defensive coordinator Christian Parker's 3-4 scheme.
The team notably added pass rusher Rashan Gary, safety Jalen Thompson in free agency, and cornerback Cobie Durant to the defense unit.
The Cowboys utilized five of seven draft picks on the defensive side of the ball, headlined by safety Caleb Downs as their first-round pick (No. 11)
If the Cowboys' defensive overhaul proves successful and the roster adjusts to Parker's new system, Rollins believes Prescott has everything needed to return to the MVP race and lead the Cowboys to the playoffs.
Cris Carter warns Dak Prescott about tougher NFC East test
Hall of Famer Cris Carter believes that the NFC East division has improved across the board, warning Prescott about tougher NFC East divisional battles.
“The whole division’s improved," Cris Carter said on the July 7 episode of the Fully Loaded Podcast. "The Giants are improved. Washington will be back with Jayden Daniels, and the Eagles will be improved based on the team that they faced last year, a couple of times."
While the Cowboys are confident with their quieter offseason and major defensive revamp, Carter gave a reality check to Prescott (about his promise to defensive tackle Quinnen Williams) that taking the Cowboys to the playoffs won't come easily.
Despite the Cowboys' offseason overhaul, Carter believes the path to a Super Bowl title has only become more difficult, with every NFC East rival expected to be stronger in the 2026 season.
Is a completely overhauled defense enough to handle an improved NFC East and get Dallas back to the playoffs? Let us know in the comments!
