Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott spoke publicly about his split with ex-fiancée Sarah Jane Ramos during the Cowboys' training camp for the first time since his engagement was called off in March.
The couple announced their split after their joint bachelor-bachelorette party trip to the Bahamas, just weeks before their planned wedding in Lake Como, Italy. The months following were filled with social media speculation about the reason for the split.
"There were a lot of false narratives out there on both of our sides,” Prescott said, per an X post of Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News on August 7. “That was very unfortunate, unfortunate for me, but somebody who's been in it and knows how to whatever to the media more to me and fortunate for her, but it's kind of life we live in.”
Soon after the split, Prescott filed a suit affecting the Parent-Child relationship (SAPCR) in Collin County, Texas, seeking joint managing conservatorship of his daughters - Margaret Jane Rose (2 years) and Aurora Rayne (one year) with Ramos in March.
“Yeah, it was an unfortunate situation for obviously everybody,” Prescott said, per an X post of Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. “More importantly, the kids. And so for me, it's just about making sure I'm there in every which way for them."
Prescott and Ramos agreed to have a private settlement for the custody of their kids, without court intervention, prioritizing the well-being of their children.
The former couple reunited for daughter Aurora’s first birthday party in May. Both his daughters were also present at the Cowboys training camp in Oxnard on August 5.
As Prescott enters his 11th season with the Cowboys, he is focused on leading the team back to the playoffs and ending the franchise's 30-year Super Bowl drought.
Dak Prescott reveals the personal goal driving his championship pursuit
During the training camp presser with FOX 4’s Mike Doocy and Samantha Gannon, Prescott revealed another factor as a motivation for his Super Bowl aspirations.
“The love and passion I have for this game, and wanting to win,” Prescott told FOX 4’s Mike Doocy and Samantha Gannon. “Being a father now, I want my girls to say my dad’s a Super Bowl-winning quarterback. I’m going to give this game everything that I have… I truly think this team and this organization are aligned and heading in that direction."
Prescott's playoff record is 2-5 during his 10-year period with the Cowboys. Although he holds the franchise record for passing yards, attempts, and completions, he has yet to lead the franchise to the Lombardi Trophy.
The Cowboys QB was vocal about his "Super Bowl or bust" mindset throughout the offseason. Now his motivation has become more personal, as he wants to win the Super Bowl title for his kids.
