Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott isn't too concerned about what people are saying about the Cowboys' defense heading into the 2026 season.
Speaking with Kay Adams on the Up & Adams Show, Prescott was asked what he thought about those who don't believe Dallas has a good defense. He didn't hesitate with his response.
“I'm telling you, I don't care what people think,” Prescott said on August 14.
The Cowboys have plenty to prove after winning just seven games in each of the last two seasons and missing the playoffs both times. Their defense was a major concern in 2025, allowing the most points per game in the league.

“I know we do. I know we've got a team that has a good defense that's growing," Prescott said on Up & Adams Show on August 14. "['They] continue to take pride in doing their job, and you can hear it from their communication when you're going against them.”
Dallas made several changes to the roster this offseason to improve the team's defense. They also hired a new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker, who had a successful run with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025.
Dallas has added some more new pieces, including first-round picks Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence, along with veterans Rashan Gary and Jalen Thompson.
Quinnen Williams will also be around for a full season after joining the Cowboys from the New York Jets last November.
On the offensive side, George Pickens, who is coming off a 93-catch, 1,429-yard, nine-touchdown season, is once again joining CeeDee Lamb in Dallas.
Prescott has led the Cowboys to five playoff appearances during his career, but has a 2-5 record in the postseason since 2016. With a Super Bowl still the target, the Cowboys' endeavor will begin when they visit the New York Giants on September 13.
With Dallas making moves across the roster, its starting quarterback has also become more comfortable putting the team's biggest goal out in the open.
The message Dak Prescott is bringing into 2026
Dak Prescott isn't shy about what he wants from the Dallas Cowboys in 2026. The quarterback has been talking openly about winning a Super Bowl, a goal he believes should be discussed freely.
“Why are we hesitant to say that that's what we're playing for?” Prescott said, per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. “So my point is, let's put it out there. Like, I'm a big manifester.”
Prescott even arrives at training camp wearing a Super Bowl XXX shirt, a reminder of the last time Dallas played in hr Super Bowl, according to Bleacher Report's August 12 report.
Whether those changes are tough remains to be seen. But for Prescott, the message is already clear: he is done being quiet about what Dallas is chasing.
