Dak Prescott sends a clear message from Cowboys training camp without saying a word

The Dallas Cowboys enter their 67th training camp with plenty of confidence after overhauling their defense this offseason. As the team looks to return to Super Bowl contention, quarterback Dak Prescott let his choice of clothing send a clear message.

Prescott wore a vintage Cowboys shirt that read “CHAMPIONS” above the team’s logo as he arrived in Oxnard, California, on July 28 for the Cowboys' training camp.

“Off to Oxnard,” a Dallas Cowboys official X post read.

According to the Dallas Cowboys' X post, Prescott commemorated the Cowboys' last Super Bowl win (27-17) over the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1996 (Super Bowl XXX) by wearing the vintage shirt.

His wardrobe choice also sent a clear message that the 2026 season will finally be the “Cowboys year”.

Prescott has been vocal about his Super Bowl aspirations in the offseason, given that the team hasn't reached an NFC championship game since the 1995 season, last appearing for the Super Bowl on January 28, 1996.

"That's the one thing I love about the Cowboys nation and being a player of the Cowboys is, it's Super Bowl or bust," Prescott said during a virtual meet-and-greet, per Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com on July 17. "And truthfully, that's the only reason you play this game. So absolutely, we're working every day for it."

After a major defensive overhaul following the 2025 season in which the Cowboys ranked 30th in total defense and allowed 511 points, Prescott believes the Cowboys are better positioned to back up their "Super Bowl or bust" mindset in 2026.

The franchise quarterback is 2-5 in the playoffs, with the Cowboys last reaching the playoffs in 2023 before losing to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round with a 48-32 record.

By wearing a tribute shirt, Prescott reinforced that his focus is on bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Dallas. That championship mindset has also earned the backing of the Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones.

Jerry Jones explains why Dak Prescott's Super Bowl confidence matters

The Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, welcomed Prescott's "Super Bowl of bust" mindset, believing the quarterback's optimism can ultimately lead the team to play at a higher level.

"Dak's feeling about it is more important than me feeling about it because Dak actually tangibly can cause his teammates to play at a higher level than I can," Jones said during the opening training camp press conference, per Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com. "So when Dak is that positive about it, that adds some credibility to it."

This championship mindset will be tested from week 12 to week 16, which, according to SI, is the toughest stretch for Prescott and the Cowboys.

Dallas has a difficult run ahead beginning on Thanksgiving, as it will play four teams that reached the 2025 playoffs: Philadelphia, Seattle, Los Angeles and Jacksonville.

Jones acknowledged that the road to the Super Bowl will be difficult, but remained confident that the Cowboys have a championship-caliber roster.

Will the Cowboys' defensive overhaul be enough to back up Prescott's "Super Bowl or bust" mindset? Let us know what you think.
