Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is often overlooked because of a lack of playoff success. Now the latest top-10 fantasy QB for 2026 list has resonated a similar sentiment.
In ESPN analyst Mike Clay’s latest top 10 projected fantasy QBs for the 2026 season, Prescott was snubbed from an elite spot.
“QB Rankings: Mike Clay’s Fantasy Projections - 1. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills,” per X post of ESPN Fantasy Sports. “ 2. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens; 3. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles; 4. Drake Maye, New England Patriots; 5. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders."
In fact, he was the only QB from the NFC East division excluded from the top ten list.
"6. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals," the X post ranking continued. "7. Jaxson Dart, New York Giants; 8. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos; 9. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams; 10. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers.”
Jackson, Burrow, Daniels, and Purdy were ranked comparatively lower due to significant games missed because of their injuries.
Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams and Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, who ranked fifth and fourth, respectively, in last year's ranking, were also left out.
Prescott led the Cowboys to rank at No. 2 in total offense (391.9 average yards) and in passing offense (266.3 average passing yards) in the league for the 2025 season.
Prescott completed 404 of 600 pass attempts (most completions in the league) for 4,552 yards, ten interceptions, and 30 touchdowns in 2025.
He has posted an elite production of completing 3,184 passes for 35,989 yards, 243 TDs, and 92 interceptions across 10 games played in the league.
While the Cowboys have now missed two consecutive playoffs primarily due to poor defense, which ranked last in passing defense (251.5) and points allowed (30.1 per game) in 2025, Prescott has faced criticism for failing to lead the Cowboys to a playoff berth.
Whether the ranking is justified or not, Prescott's priority to end the Super Bowl drought remains unchanged as he heads into his 11th season with the Cowboys in the 2026 season.
Prescott views a playoff berth as the baseline
The Cowboys finished the last season with a disappointing record of 7-9-1, missing a playoff run for the second straight year, and Prescott is certainly looking to get things back on track.
The QB's 2-5 playoff record is often pointed out, with his last playoff win coming in 2022, but when it comes to the future, Prescott is aiming high.
"Definitely," Prescott said, per Tommy Yarrish of Dallas Cowboys.com. "But we're pushing. That's our goal, that's a minimum. When you have a team like this, and they've done everything they have in the offseason, obviously, we've got to push and get better on offense, but when we know we're already improving on defense, that's the minimum. That's everybody's goal in here."
Prescott views reaching the playoffs as the 'bare minimum' as he aspires to lead the team to the Super Bowl title in 2026.
With the defensive overhaul and a strong offense, Prescott believes the Cowboys have the necessary resources to land the Lombardi trophy this season.
