The Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was overlooked in the latest NFC East rankings, despite leading one of the NFL’s top offenses last season and equalling Tony Romo's record for most seasons with 30 or more touchdowns.

NFL Insider John Franscella ranked Prescott at No. 2. In contrast, the Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts ranked at No. 1. Followed by Washington Commanders Jayden Daniels and New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart at No. 3 and 4, respectively.

“When it comes to playing the overall position of quarterback, Prescott is the superior player,” Randy Gurzi of Sports Illustrated noted based on the rankings. “He just happens to be held back by the organization the same way Romo was before him."

Prescott completed the most passes in the league in 2025 with 404 of 600 pass attempts for 4,552 yards. Hurts recorded 294 of 454 attempts for 3,224 yards in 2025.

Last year, Prescott recorded a 67.3% completion percentage while Hurts recorded a 64.8% completion rate.

Hurts' Super Bowl win with the Eagles in 2024 has placed him higher in the rankings, according to Frascella.

Gurzi noted that Hurts is supported by the team overall to land a Lombardi trophy.

If the quarterbacks are to be ranked on the criteria of the success of the team, former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino wouldn't have ranked amongst the top quarterbacks of the league.

While Prescott has recently been snubbed as no.2 in the NFC East rankings s, ESPN's Mina Kimes holds a different view from many of her peers.

Mina Kimes Places Dak Prescott Inside Top 10

On the latest episode of 'The Mina Kimes Show ft. Lenny, Kimes, and Ben Solak of ESPN ranked all 32 NFL teams' quarterbacks. She ranked Prescott at No. 7 ahead of the NFC East division rivals.

"It's kind of slept on how good Dak Prescott was last year," Kimes noted. "I mean, top five in just about every meaningful metric. One that caught my eye was just how accurate he was throwing the ball downfield."

While Hurts was ranked at No. 17, Jayden Daniels ranked at No. 10, based on their 2025 season production.

"When I was thinking about this category, and who's going to give me what I expect, which is top 5-8 quarterback play, I just felt comfortable with Dak," Kimes said.

Starting his 11th season in 2026, Prescott has the physicality Kimes believes will keep him top-10 for the next three years.
