Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had one of his career-best seasons in 2025, but it wasn't enough to convince everyone. While one analyst praised Prescott’s growth, he still believes another NFC passer deserves the edge.
On the Braylon Edwards Show by Woodward Sports, former NFL all-pro Braylon Edwards and the panel argued that Pro Football Focus ranked Jared Goff too low at No. 16. Edwards believes the Lions quarterback deserves to be ranked ahead of Dallas Cowboys signal-caller Dak Prescott, who sits at No. 8.
"He [Prescott] can throw the ball very well, but no," Braylon Edwards said on July 10. "Even though Dak Prescott had his best season as a pro last year - like, what it looked like, he looked like a pro, he looked like somebody I could put more stock and value in. I agree, I would not take him over Jared Goff."

Edwards said during the same Braylon Edwards show that Prescott should be ranked below Goff, though they acknowledged that Prescott's value spiked after last year's production.
They argued that Goff is more of a "cerebral quarterback" who leads an efficient offense.
Prescott led the league in completions, recording 404 completions on 600 pass attempts for 4,552 passing yards, a 67.3% completion rate, and 30 touchdowns.
While Goff had a statistically productive year, completing 393 of 578 passes attempted for 4,564 yards and 34 touchdowns.
Though Goff leads the league in passing yards (18,205) and passing touchdowns (130) since 2022, according to PFF, Prescott maintains a high touchdown rate (5.1 %) against Goff's 4.9%.
Prescott led the offense to rank No. 2 in total yards in the league (391.9 average yards) and second in passing offense (266.3 average passing yards).
The Lions, led by Goff, ranked No. 5 in total offense (373.2 yards per game) and No. 3 in passing offense (253.1 yards per game), trailing right behind the Cowboys.
Though Edwards favored Goff over Prescott, Pro Football Focus rankings weighed a broader sample of production, extending beyond the 2025 season, that ranked Prescott in the top 10 QB rankings.
PFF valued Dak Prescott's sustained production
Pro Football Focus ranked the 32 starters based on PFF passing grade, EPA per dropback, and Wins Above Replacement (WAR) for an average of "three seasons of performance."
"Prescott quietly put together one of the NFL's most complete passing seasons in 2025," Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick of PFF wrote in the article. "His 85.4 PFF passing grade ranked fourth among qualified quarterbacks, while his 3.39 Wins Above Replacement and 0.180 EPA per dropback ranked second and fourth, respectively."
Prescott earned an 86.5 passing grade from a clean pocket and logged the second-highest mark in the league under pressure with a 73.7 passing grade.
PFF's ranking reinforced Prescott's standing as one of the league's most consistent QBs heading into the 2026 season, despite differing opinions from analysts.
Does Jared Goff deserve to be ranked ahead of Dak Prescott, or does PFF's data paint a more accurate picture? Let us know in the comments!
