Dallas Cowboys Announce $3M Decision After Double Roster Move

The Cowboys have locked down a key defensive player. Dallas is bringing back defensive end Sam Williams on a one-year, $3 million contract, according to reports. This marks the first of several big moves for the team in free agency.

Mike Garafolo reported that the Cowboys are bringing back defensive end Sam Williams on a one-year, $3 million deal. Number 54 has been with the Dallas Cowboys his entire career and will return for his fifth NFL season with the Dallas outfit.

Sam Williams played his college football at Ole Miss and was drafted by the Cowboys in the 2022 NFL draft as their 56th overall pick in round two.

The 26-year-old played 17 games in the 2025 NFL season. Williams had 37 tackles, of which 23 were solo. The defensive end also had one sack as well as one forced fumble, which he managed to recover.

This seems like a logical move by Jerry Jones and the Dallas front office. And it's just the first step in turning one of the worst defenses in the league into a better one.

And Jerry Jones Hasn't Stopped the Splurge There, Bringing Two More Players In

Following the signing of Sam Williams to another deal. Jerry Jones has gone out and spent real money.

Jalen Thompson, the safety, has signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Thompson will reunite with his former coach, Ryan Smith. The safety was on the Cowboys' radar, and they have gone out and got their man.

It was also reported that the Cowboys had engaged in a trade with the Green Bay Packers.

The deal saw the Cowboys acquire Rashan Gary (DE) in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick that the Packers will receive.

So far, so good for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, and not to mention, they still hold their two first-round draft picks, which could be more defensive reinforcements incoming.
