A late-night show took an unexpected turn when the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. What started as a normal chat quickly turned into a surprise moment.
The conversation took a sudden shift when hidden squad members inside the audience revealed their identity, and the group quickly moved into a live dance performance on stage.
“Hey, you know what would really be cool, Jimmy? If they just came here right now and performed,” Roots co-founder and band member, Tariq Trotter, said to Jimmy Fallon.
“But what if it isn’t impossible, Jimmy?” a woman in the audience added, building anticipation in the studio.
The appearance took place on June 24 during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and was linked to the promotion of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, which recently released its third season.
The series takes viewers beyond game-day performances and shows what goes on behind the scenes, from training and discipline to how the cheerleaders are selected.
The cheerleaders took off their jackets to reveal their full uniforms and went into a fast, energetic performance to “Move Shake Drop.” Mixing pom moves with hip-hop style, the whole studio felt like a live concert.
The latest season of America’s Sweethearts is currently streaming on Netflix. The seven-episode series follows the 36-member squad through their auditions, training, and life beyond performances.
The surprise appearance made the promotional talk more interesting and turned it into a live entertainment moment.
It also shows how the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are growing beyond football and reaching more people through entertainment.
While the cheerleaders continue to gain popularity, the women behind the organization are also thinking about their own future.
Kelli Finglass and Judy Trammell speak about retirement plans
Kelli Finglass and Judy Trammell, longtime leaders of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, recently spoke in an exclusive PEOPLE interview about their retirement plans and future with the organization.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Finglass said she has dedicated most of her life to the organization and cannot easily imagine a life away from it.
"I don't know life outside of DCC in some regards," Finglass said. "When I get the chance to be a grandparent, that's probably when I will say no for myself because I want time with my family."
Trammell, meanwhile, said she believes retirement is getting closer, although she has not decided on a timeline yet.
She explained that she will know it is time to step away once the work no longer feels enjoyable.
"It'll be hard whenever that day is, period," Trammell said.
Kelli Finglass and Judy Trammell may not be retiring anytime soon, but many fans are already curious about the future.
With the DCC continuing to grow in popularity, all eyes are now on what comes next for the organization.
