As the Dallas Cowboys continue searching for help at cornerback, one insider believes the team must carefully weigh the former Detroit Lions cornerback’s talent against the serious off-field concerns surrounding him.
Cody Warren of Inside The Star warned the Cowboys that while the former Lions CB Terrion Arnold comes with an upside of being a former first-round pick and talent to boast the same, he also has legal issues surrounding him.
“The Cowboys have major questions at cornerback,” Cody Warren of Inside the Star wrote. “Dallas has talent in the room, but I know talent on paper doesn’t settle much when the depth chart is one injury away from everyone holding their breath. That’s where I think this Terrion Arnold to Dallas could have some legs.”

Warren noted that while the additions of Cobie Durant, third-year Caelen Carson, and rookie Devin Moore improve the Cowboys' secondary depth, injury concerns surrounding players like DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel Jr. continue to cloud the unit's outlook.
"For me, I would make the call," Cody Warren of Inside The Star wrote in his article. "There is too much talent in Terrion Arnold to act like he doesn’t exist, but also too much trouble around him to act like this is just another cornerback visit. "
In his two years in the NFL, Arnold has posted 91 tackles (70 solo), 18 passes defended across 24 games played (22 starts) with the Detroit Lions.
Warren believes that Arnold could be a perfect fit for the Cowboys, based on his familiarity with the Alabama Crimson Tide alumni, like safety Caleb Downs and offensive lineman Tyler Booker.
For now, the Detroit Lions released Arnold in free agency following his off-field incident with the authorities.
With the legal process still ongoing, Warren believes the uncertainty surrounding Arnold's availability could ultimately outweigh his football upside for the Cowboys.
Four NFL teams show interest in Terrion Arnold following release
According to Maureen Feighan of the Detroit News, Arnold's agent revealed that four NFL teams showed interest in the former Lions CB since his release from Detroit.
"Nicole Lynn, Arnold’s agent, testified during a Zoom hearing in Hillsborough County Circuit Court in Tampa that the four teams are the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, and Houston Texans," Maureen Feighan of the Detroit News wrote in her USA Today article.
Arnold already had a workout with the Houston Texans on July 9, where the team paid for him to fly in. According to his agent, Lynn, Arnold is also expected to have subsequent visits to each team that expressed interest in him in the following weeks.
Despite his unresolved legal issues, Arnold appears to be closing in on another NFL opportunity, with his attorney Harvey Steinberg expecting him to sign with a new team before the training camp begins later this month.
