Another day, another defender linked to the Dallas Cowboys. This time, it is Jalen Thompson.

The Cowboys need an edge, a cornerback, a linebacker, and a safety this offseason to overhaul and rebuild that puzzled defense.

Jane Slater reports that the Cowboys appreciate Jalen Thompson for the safety position. Thompson’s previous contract was a rookie extension deal that cost the Arizona Cardinals $36 million.

That should not be a hiccup for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, as ‌Thompson is set to become an unrestricted free agent this year. He will be entering his eighth NFL season.

Dallas' new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker, will employ a multi-front defensive scheme. Parker wants players who can play in different areas and impact the defense.

Thomson would fit the bill perfectly, as he is exactly the type of player they would be looking for.

In the 2025 NFL season, Thompson had 95 total tackles, of which 58 were solo. The safety registered one sack and had one forced fumble. Thompson also had six passes defended.

The Cowboys could land Jalen Thompson and bolster the defensive unit. The only question that remains is how much he will cost Jerry Jones and the Cowboys?

What did this Dallas Cowboys insider say about the Cowboys' defensive plans?

The NFL free agency starts in two days. Several stories are being written about the Dallas Cowboys and their defensive needs.

Mike Fisher, a long-time Dallas Cowboys insider, shared information regarding the team's defensive unit.

The Cowboys had a poor 2025 season, and their defense was outright diabolical. Every other day, a new defender is being linked to the Cowboys.

“There are indications that Dallas wants to sign two defensive difference-makers,” as per Mike Fisher.

There has been plenty of talk of Jones busting the budget; now would be the time to back that up.  Let us know your opinions in the comments!
