Dallas Cowboys Make $22M Move Over Offensive Star Amid NFL Free Agency

The Dallas Cowboys have revised the contract of right tackle Terence Steele. Steele has three years left on his contract and was set to make $46 million through this period.

Under the revised terms, he is set to receive $22 million in guarantees as part of a $33 million deal, which can reach a maximum value of $36 million through incentives.

While Terence Steele could have been a casualty to fix the Cowboys’ salary cap problem, the renegotiated contract has kept him on the squad for the 2026 season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported this news, saying that this deal would create an additional $13 million in cap space for the Cowboys.

Steele has been a regular for the Cowboys, starting 91 of the 96 games he has played in the last six seasons.

Renegotiating Steele’s contract has opened up a significant amount of cap space for the Dallas Cowboys. This can make it easier for them to go shopping in free agency.

The Cowboys' offensive line is expected to shift around

There are also some theories that the Cowboys may look to shift some players in the offensive line.

While Tyler Smith could take on the role of left tackle, TJ Bass could be seen coming up on the left guard position.

Earlier, head coach Brian Schottenheimer insisted that they would be looking to keep Tyler Smith at the left guard position. However, he did say that he and Smith were having conversations on moving him to the tackle position, too.

Speaking on this, Schottenheimer said, “But he just wanted some direction, and I said right now, you’re a guard. At the end of the day, we’re going to do what’s best for the Dallas Cowboys (in) winning a Super Bowl, and that’s just like we did the last three games."

When it comes to TJ Bass, the Cowboys have placed a second-round tender on him, valued at $5.6 million. This means the Cowboys will be able to match any offer that any other team offers Bass, or receive a draft pick in return if they do not match the offer.
