The Dallas Cowboys made two moves to their running back room on Friday, August 7, adding another layer to an already crowded competition with players like Jaydon Blue and Malik Davis. The changes come with training camp moving toward its next phase.
Dallas announced the signing of Jashaun Corbin and waived Dominic Richardson in a corresponding move. Richardson joined the Cowboys as one of their 11 undrafted free-agent additions following the 2026 NFL Draft.
After the official announcement on August 7, Corbin now gets a chance to compete for a roster spot in Dallas after making his mark in the UFL.

The former Texas A&M and Florida State running back, as noted by the official announcement, won the league's rushing title in 2025 and was named to the All-UFL Team.
In 2023, he had limited action with the New York Giants, appearing in six games. He had one carry for one yard and caught three passes for 12 yards, with most of his work coming on special teams.
His 2025 season with the San Antonio Brahmas looked different. Corbin ran for 514 yards and four touchdowns and added 18 catches for 138 yards.
Dallas already has plenty of competition ahead of him. Javonte Williams is expected to lead the group, while Jaydon Blue, Malik Davis and Phil Mafah are battling for opportunities behind him. Israel Abanikanda also impressed during camp.
Corbin's path to the 53-man roster won't be easy, but the Cowboys have plenty of practices and preseason action remaining. His versatility could help, especially if he can contribute on special teams.
Cowboys coach explains the reasoning behind Jashaun Corbin
Corbin didn't arrive in Oxnard simply because Dallas needed another camp body. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said the team liked several parts of his game after watching him work out.
"We put Jashaun through a workout with a couple other backs, liked some of his quickness, some of his twitch, his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield," Schottenheimer told reporters on August 9.
Those traits give Corbin another way to separate himself in a crowded room. Special teams could be just as important, particularly for a player fighting for a roster or practice squad spot.
"Really excited about the competition in the running back room after Javonte with Jaydon, Phil, Malik and those guys. But we liked his twitch, and he's got some special teams value, which is a good thing. That's always going to be a big part of what we're doing."
Corbin showed his quickness during his first practice, breaking through the first two levels and getting close to the end zone. He will get more chances to make his case during the preseason. The Cowboys open the regular season against the New York Giants.
