The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback has missed out on the Hall of Fame, but might be close to getting another honor. This time, it will be an All-Time Cowboys franchise honor.
The Cowboys are preparing a Ring of Honor celebration, with former quarterback Tony Romo expected to be one of the next names for induction.
“On some level, it would be poetic for Romo and Witten to go in together, and maybe for Smith and Martin to do so as well,” Blogging The Boy’s RJ Ochoa wrote about Romo, who is set to get the honor along with his former teammate Jason Witten.

Romo didn't get enough postseason record with only six game appearances. He joined the team in 2003, but he got the Cowboys’ offense by mid-2006. With zero Super Bowl wins with the team, even after having a highly impactful career of 13 years, that was a major reason for him not getting into the Hall of Fame.
But he is set to receive the Cowboys franchise honor with over 34,183 passing yards and a passer rating of 97.1. Romo made his high impact in the NFL, but a back injury in 2016 opened the door for Dak Prescott to take over as the starter, which led to Romo's retirement in 2017.
The very next year, Jerry Jones dropped Romo's name in the Ring of Honor conversation.
"The bottom line is the answer is that is, yes, he will be in the Ring of Honor," Dallas general manager said in an interview back in 2018.
Other than Romo and Witten, Tyron Smith and Zack Martin are also headed to the Cowboys Ring of Honor.
With Ring of Honor talk picking up, Romo’s path in the NFL is remembered as one marked by steady perseverance.
Tony Romo’s Journey from Undrafted Quarterback to Cowboys Leader
The Cowboys signed Romo as an undrafted free agent following the 2003 NFL Draft. They signed him with a $10,000 signing bonus as an undrafted rookie. Later in 2013, he signed a six-year extension worth $108 million.
Romo’s journey in Dallas is one of the most influential in the Cowboys ' history. The undrafted player soon became the face of the Cowboys' offense. Till 2025, he held the record for most passing yards all-time. until Prescott broke it last season.
Over the years, he earned four Pro Bowl selections and even picked up a second-team All-Pro honor, and during the 2014 season, racking up 3,705 passing yards with 34 touchdowns.
Romo may not have a deep playoff résumé, but his career accomplishments still deserve recognition.
