Seven-time Pro Bowler defensive end Myles Garrett has once again become the subject of trade speculation despite signing a four-year extension with the Cleveland Browns in 2025. One NFL insider has identified an NFC East team as a potential landing spot for the star pass rusher.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, during his appearance on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, predicted the Philadelphia Eagles, rivals of the Dallas Cowboys, could trade for the Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett, even though they have a strong defensive unit.
“I think the Eagles are somebody you always pay attention to,” Breer said. “Dallas… there would be an appeal there. If you don’t do it now, well, you risk in a year or two when maybe your team is really ready to win, getting a lot less for him.”
Garrett has recorded 60 tackles (43 solo), 33 tackles for loss, 23 sacks, and 39 QB hits. He ranked second in single-season tackles for loss since 2000, behind J.J. Watt's 39 tackles for loss in 2012, according to Kelsey Russo of ClevelandBrowns.com

He also led the league in sacks, breaking the 22.5 sacks record set by Hall of Famer Michael Strahan in 2001 and matched by T.J. Watt in 2021, according to Brianna Williams of ESPN.
Jimmy Kempski, an Eagles writer for The Philly Voice, shared on his X account in response to Breer’s prediction that the Eagles have been, in fact, eyeing Garrett for some time.
“Howie checks in on Myles Garrett every year,” Kempski wrote. “Don’t think it matters that the Eagles have a very good D-line group already. If you can add the best non-QB in the NFL, then do it.”
Considering Garrett's Super Bowl aspirations, the Eagles appear to be a logical landing spot. He is also linked to another NFC East franchise, which needs pass-rush help heading into the 2026 season.
Cowboys Identified as Potential Fit for Myles Garrett
Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer also hinted at the Cowboys landing Garrett, as they need a pass rush after trading Micah Parsons last season.
"It’s a little hard to see them [Eagles] pulling it off just because of their salary cap situation," Breer said on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland. "Dallas is one that, to me, that’s where he’s from [Texas A&M alum]. So, like, there would be an appeal there, and they obviously traded away Micah Parsons a year ago, so they are a team that would look at something like that. There’s no shortage of suitors."
Garrett reportedly did not appear for the OTAs of the Browns. And according to Breer, he hasn't met the new head coach, Todd Monken, yet.
He has also delayed the execution of the option bonus ($29.2M) from late March to a week before the regular season begins, fueling speculation about a potential trade.
The Cowboys enter the 2026 season with a roster gap at edge rusher, and adding Garrett could provide a significant boost to a defense now led by new defensive coordinator Christian Parker.
