Jalen Hurts' long-term future with the Philadelphia Eagles has become a talking point this offseason. While Hurts remains under contract, questions about a potential extension and reports surrounding his future have been floating.
Eagles Insider Ryan Brown of A to Z Sports believes there should not be much debate about what Philadelphia needs to do next.
"The Eagles need to pay Jalen Hurts. Simple as that... Pay the man, build around him, and let [OC] Sean Mannion cook," Brown wrote. "If the Eagles do that, they’re going to be right back in the thick of it. But if they let this drag out and create unnecessary uncertainty around the most important position on the roster, that’s a self-inflicted wound this organization cannot afford."
In Brown's view, the message to the Eagles' front office is simple: remove any doubt and secure Hurts for the long term.

Brown's comments were a direct response to the ongoing discussion surrounding Hurts' future.
He also pushed back against speculation that the quarterback could have been traded after last season, arguing that Philadelphia should be focused on committing to its franchise quarterback rather than creating more uncertainty.
Brown noted earlier this offseason that Philadelphia had shown no urgency to extend Hurts, even though he is their franchise QB.
Brown's argument is rooted in what Hurts has already accomplished. The quarterback has led the Eagles to multiple Super Bowl appearances, won a Super Bowl MVP, and continued producing.
Those achievements are a big reason why Brown believes the Eagles should focus on building around Hurts rather than allowing contract questions to dominate the conversation.
Eagles Insider Believes Sean Mannion Can Help Strengthen Hurts' Future
Brown also pointed to offensive coordinator Sean Mannion as another reason for optimism.
"Now, I do think there’s reason for optimism," Brown wrote on A to Z Sports. "Offensive coordinator Sean Mannion is already starting to put the blueprint down for the kind of system that maximizes what Hurts does best."
According to Brown, Mannion's arrival allows Hurts to play to his strengths. The Eagles have often looked their best when the offense has been aggressive with the QB in a position to win.
That belief only supports Brown's larger point. With Hurts already established as one of the franchise's most important players and a new offensive system taking shape, Philadelphia should focus on extending its quarterback.
