Micah Parsons' dominant first season in Green Bay ended with a serious injury. Now, his recovery from a torn ACL could extend into the 2026 season.
The star pass rusher is expected to miss the start of the 2026 season, potentially the first three to four games, as he recovers from a torn left ACL suffered in Week 15 last year.
The 2026 schedule may not be out yet, but one clash is inevitable: the Green Bay Packers vs the Dallas Cowboys. However, with Micah Parsons’ recovery timeline in question, Dallas might just catch a massive break by dodging one of the NFL’s most disruptive forces.
For Parsons, though, this is surely bad news as he'd surely be keen on being able to play in every game for his new franchise (a feat he last managed in 2023).
“So far they say I’m flying, so whatever that means,” Parsons said in January, via The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman. “There’s a timing standpoint they want, but I don’t think I’ll be on the injured reserve list to start the season. I think lofty, I’d be saying Week 1. But, realistically, probably like Week 3 or Week 4.”
Parsons made an immediate impact with the Green Bay Packers in just 14 games. He recorded 12.5 sacks, along with 41 tackles. His dominant performance marked his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl selection.
Now, his absence leaves a significant void as the defensive line thins down. With Rashan Gary now in Dallas and Lukas Van Ness yet to fully emerge as a consistent force, the Packers will have an important task in the opening weeks.
The Green Bay Packers acquired Parsons for a four-year, $188 million contract with $136 million guaranteed, the highest ever-paid for a non-quarterback in the history of the NFL.
Defensively, the Cowboys did not look the same since the exit. And now, they might have offense issues on their hands, too.
Cowboys Facing Another Tight Situation
Dallas may be facing the same contract dispute that led to the Parsons trade.
After contract talks with the Dallas Cowboys broke down, Parsons was traded in a surprising move driven by long-term financial disagreements.
Now, similar speculation surrounds George Pickens. While nothing is imminent, concerns about consistency and future contract demands have sparked trade rumors.
Despite having a franchise tag, Pickens has yet to agree to a long-term deal. That being said, these talks could still be finalized this summer.
For now, Pickens’ future remains unsettled.
