Former Cowboys DT Trysten Hill is facing a third-degree felony charge. But it's his booking photo that has everyone talking.
The situation drew further attention after his mugshot surfaced online, where he appeared to be smiling in the booking photo.
The Ex‑Cowboys defensive tackle was arrested on March 26 and charged with a third‑degree felony for “assault of a pregnant person”, according to records obtained by the Daily Mail.
He also faces misdemeanor charges for interfering with an emergency call for help.
The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office stated that Trysten Hill was arrested in connection with two bond forfeiture warrants tied to a 2025 criminal investigation, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Both the identity of the person involved in the incident and the relationship between the two remain unclear and undisclosed.
Hill was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Waxahachie around 2:30 pm, with a bail amount set at $3,500.
Trysten Hill was selected as a second-round pick of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys after his standout collegiate career at the University of Central Florida.
He played for 4 seasons, appearing in 25 games, and recorded 33 combined tackles (22 solo, 11 assists), 0.5 sacks, and 4 tackles for loss.
Despite being drafted as a second-round pick at the 2019 draft, his performance was limited mainly due to injuries.
What's particularly interesting here is that it appears that this is not the first instance of him engaging in violent or unlawful behavior.
Controversial History Stands Out for NFL Player
Trysten Hill has a history of controversial plays and league discipline.
In 2020, he injured Seahawks running back Chris Carson with a post-play twist to the knee and a late helmet-to-helmet hit on QB Russell Wilson, resulting in fines of a total of $13,044.
In 2021, Hill was suspended for punching Las Vegas Raiders offensive guard John Simpson after a game.
His return to the NFL is highly unlikely, at least for now, as the felony assault investigation continues.
