"I don’t care": Cowboys CB Claps Back At Dak Prescott Critics

Though the Dallas Cowboys ranked second in total offense, Dak Prescott faced criticism for missing the playoffs in two consecutive seasons of 2024 and 2025. The Cowboys finished 7-9-1 in 2025 and did not reach the postseason for the second year in a row.

Amid criticism of Prescott’s performance during the season and postseason, Cowboys cornerback Josh Butler showed his support for his teammate. As per an X post shared by FirstSportz NFL, Butler pushed back against those who questioned the quarterback’s consistency.

“I don't care about your opinion. I don't care where you’re from. I don't care who your favourite team is. You can fight me about it…‘Dak is a top 5 QB',” Butler said.

The Dallas cornerback also posted a TikTok video recently with a caption, “No Dak hate will NOT be tolerated,” and called out critics for being unnecessarily hard on the team’s QB.

“Outside football, he gets a lot of hate, and I don’t understand it,” Butler continued in his TikTok video. “He does a lot of stuff for the community, he does a lot of stuff for mental health, he does a lot of stuff to help people out. We are normal people too. We are normal human beings. Just cause we got a different job or whatever, and y’all like the sport, doesn’t mean treat us like s***.”

Dak Prescott completed 404 passes for 4,552 passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns in 17 games in the 2025 season.

And despite such production, Dallas supporters are split in their opinions. According to Robert Littal of BlackSportsOnline, while some see him as a reliable top-tier quarterback who brings in stellar performance every year, others see him as a player who hasn't proven himself to carry the team into the playoffs.

Prescott has been vocal about his personal struggles off the field, including the loss of his brother in 2020, making him speak candidly about the importance of seeking mental health support.

On and Off the Field With Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott lost his mother to colon cancer in 2013 and his brother to s****** in 2020. He initiated Faith Fight Finish Foundation, which has colon cancer research as its original mission, advocating mental health awareness and s****** prevention as well.

Prescott recently attended the Annual Gala for the Children’s Cancer Fund,  a Dallas-based nonprofit. He is a prominent honorary chair and supporter of this organization, which raises money to fund pediatric cancer research and care.

"When I meet them [the parents], I try to give them just as much love, because losing my mom to cancer, I understand that sometimes the parents need the same support as the patients,” Prescott said during the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala 2026 in April.

According to Fox Sports, the Cowboys’ offense ranked second in the NFL in total yards, averaging 391.9 yards per game and scoring 27.7 points per game (rank 7).

And with Dak Prescott now the highest-paid player in NFL history at $60M annually, he remains a proven playmaker and a key contributor, despite the constant online noise.
