Brian Schottenheimer’s Super Bowl mission has nothing to do with his own legacy.
Entering his second season as Dallas Cowboys head coach, he revealed that his drive is rooted in winning for his players and honoring his father’s unfinished journey.
On the Twins Take Podcast's July 4 episode, Schottenheimer explained, "It's always something I've always dreamed of. I want to win a Super Bowl. I don't want to win it for me. I want to win it for the people under my leadership.
"I want to win it for Dak Prescott. I want to win it for CeeDee Lamb, for Quinnen Williams, for our players that put in so much hard work and the sacrifice that goes into what we do."

Schottenheimer shared that he wanted the Cowboys to reach the playoffs and land the Lombardi Trophy, for the hard work and the physical strain that the players put themselves through.
He emphasized that while coaches face mental pressure, players endure the greater physical and mental strain through play-making and split-second decisions.
"And I make no qualms that that's the goal," Schottenheimer said in the Twins Take Podcast on July 4.
"And you've got to get some good fortune, but at the end of the day - I've said this from the very beginning - when we get our Super Bowl rings, I'll be getting an extra one for my dad."
Marty Schottenheimer, father of Brian Schottenheimer, coached 21 NFL seasons with the Chiefs, Browns, and Chargers but never won a Super Bowl. Brian wants to deliver one ring for himself and another in tribute to his father.
Schottenheimer revealed that he wanted to get his own Super Bowl ring and also another one for his father, who couldn't reach the title win during his stint as an HC in the league.
Why Brian Schottenheimer Believes This Cowboys Team Can Win
Schottenheimer believes Dallas’ offseason overhaul has positioned the team to compete for a title. The defensive upgrades and roster culture have convinced him the Cowboys can return to the playoffs and chase the Lombardi Trophy in 2026.
"I love our roster," Schottenheimer said, per Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com.
"I love the changes that we've made on defense. My confidence is rooted in the people that we have, not just the type of player or coach they are, the talent level, but the way they are as human beings."
He believes that the Cowboys are in a good spot with the coaching personnel, too, with defensive coordinator Christian Parker, offensive coordinator Klayton Adams, quarterbacks coach Steve Shimko, and pass game specialist Ken Dorsey.
Schottenheimer believes that the Cowboys team is more culture-driven because of the people and the motivation they bring to the team on a daily basis.
