Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has found himself at the center of debate after a recent ranking placed several NFL quarterbacks ahead of him despite his success over the past few seasons.
A report by Pete Prisco of CBS Sports believes there are 16 quarterbacks ahead of Eagles star Jalen Hurts in his latest top 100 rankings. Hurts was ranked 84th.
"After leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory the year before, Hurts saw his play decline some last season," Prisco wrote. "But he did throw a career-best 25 touchdown passes. He wasn't as effective running the ball as he had been in previous seasons."

In CBS Sports' annual Top 100 NFL Players of 2026, Prisco pointed to Hurts' performance last season while explaining his latest quarterback rankings.
Prisco's rankings put Myles Garrett at No. 1, with Matthew Stafford, Josh Allen, Ja'Marr Chase, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes among the top 10, while Hurts found himself lower on the list despite his strong run in recent years.
The Eagles secured another NFC East crown, but they were knocked out by the San Francisco 49ers in their opening playoff game at home
Even with the debate around his ranking, Hurts put together a strong 2025 season. He recorded 3,224 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. The 27-year-old three-time Pro Bowler has thrown for 17,891 yards and 110 touchdowns in his career.
With a new season ahead, the Eagles star will have another chance to show where he belongs among the league's best quarterbacks.
While the rankings have sparked debate outside the organization, the Eagles remain fully confident in their franchise quarterback.
Eagles coach highlights Jalen Hurts work ethic
Quarterbacks coach Parks Frazier spoke about Hurts' work ethic, desire to learn and commitment to winning during the team's offseason program, reported by Dave Spadaro of the Philadelphia Eagles.
“He is dedicated to winning and wants to do whatever it takes to win more than any quarterback that I've been around," Frazier said.
Frazier had plenty more to say about Hurts as a student of the game.
"He is phenomenal in the room, asks really good questions. Always wanted more. He's a sponge, so he's been great."
Whether Hurts deserves to be ranked higher will remain a topic of debate, but the Eagles' coaching staff has made it clear they have no doubts about their quarterback heading into the 2026 season.
