Jerry Jones Eyes Dual Trade Deals After Giving up on 2x Pro Bowler

The Dallas Cowboys are making a calculated pivot. After reportedly moving on from Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Queen, owner Jerry Jones is now targeting two defensive playmakers instead of one. This potential shift signals a new direction in the team's strategy.

Cowboys reporter Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Jerry Jones is back again with yet another aggressive roster call.

It happened when Harris was discussing his mock draft and a fan responded to his post. That's when Harris replied with, "They’ve pivoted off Queen. Al-Shaair & Brooks are being discussed, though."

Jordyn Brooks was the 27th overall pick of the 2020 Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. In his career, he has played six seasons, appearing in 97 games. He has successfully recorded 839 tackles and 13 sacks.

Moving to, Azeez Al Shaair, started his career in 2019 with the San Francisco 49ers, and later joined the Houston Texans. So far in his career, he has played 100 games with 535 total tackles and 6 sacks.

The numbers explain why this approach makes more sense for Dallas. Patrick Queen recorded 120 tackles last season but is set to earn $10.83 million, with scouts noting a dip in his impact. However, the new combined linebackers unit, Jordyn, will make roughly $8 million, and Azeez will make $11 million with complementary skill sets. making this dual move more practical than relying on a single option.

Who Else Jerry Jones Adding to Complete the Cowboys’ Defensive Puzzle

Beyond the dual-trade approach, Jerry Jones is also exploring experienced options to stabilize the middle of the defense.

Veterans like Bobby Wagner and Lavonte David are being evaluated as short-term solutions who could provide leadership. Wagner is known for his diagnostic ability, while David adds range and coverage skills.

Considering players such as Rashan Gary add pass-rush upside off the edge, Jalen Thompson strengthens the back-end coverage, and P. J. Locke provides rotational depth.

At the corner, Cobie Durant offers speed and man coverage ability, while Otito Ogbonnia brings interior presence at nose tackle.

The broader plan is clear: Dallas is not focusing on one fix but building layers across the defense to improve flexibility and overall unit performance.
